My students use the bins during independent work, small-group rotations, and structured choice time. They especially enjoy being able to choose an activity, gather the materials they need, and work through a task at their own pace.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments has been watching students who typically need frequent adult support become more independent when working with the bins. Students are practicing following visual directions, building and creating with different materials, strengthening their fine motor skills, and completing tasks from beginning to end. The hands-on nature of the activities keeps students engaged while giving them opportunities to practice important skills in a way that feels like play.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited to explore them right away! The building materials and sensory activities immediately sparked curiosity, and students began experimenting with different ways to use the materials. We are now working on expanding those moments of exploration into purposeful learning by encouraging students to follow task cards, complete simple challenges, clean up independently, and move on to their next activity.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue rotating new activities into the bins and gradually increase the level of independence expected from each student. These resources will continue to provide opportunities for my students to practice academic, functional, social, and fine motor skills while building confidence in their ability to work independently.
