I wanted to share how your donations are already making a difference in both our elementary and middle school classes.\r\n\r\nHow we're using the new resources\r\nWe've been using the foam balls, stress balls, and soft activity equipment for daily movement breaks and small-group fitness stations. For example, in one recent lesson, my middle schoolers rotated through \"Health Benefits of Exercise\" stations using the large poster you provided. At each station, they read a section of the poster (like \"Sleep Better\" or \"Improve Brain Function\") and then completed a related activity with the new equipment—underhand toss with the foam tennis, relay passing with the volleyballs, and coordination challenges using the footballs.\r\n\r\nWith my elementary students, we've been practicing teamwork and sportsmanship. We use the \"In This Classroom We Are a TEAM\" poster as our pre-activity focus, then play simple cooperative games using the soft balls so every child can participate safely and confidently, regardless of skill level. The materials have helped us connect physical activity to social-emotional skills like respect, effort, and encouragement.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first walked into the gym and saw all of the new materials laid out, their faces lit up. I heard comments like, \"Are those for us?\" and \"We got new equipment!\" Several students immediately gravitated to the foam balls felt compared to our old equipment. Even some of my quieter students, who are usually hesitant in PE, were excited and willing to jump in because the equipment looked fun, new, and non-threatening. It truly felt like Christmas morning in the gym.\r\n\r\nNext steps in our lessons and projects\r\nYour donation is helping us move from simple \"follow-the-leader\" activities into more student-led learning. Our next steps include:\r\n\t•\tHealth & Fitness Projects: Students will create short presentations or posters using the \"Health Benefits of Exercise\" chart as a starting point. They'll choose one benefit, research it further, and then design a short game or warm-up activity using the new equipment that demonstrates that benefit to their classmates.\r\n\t•\tTeamwork & Leadership: We will continue to build classroom culture around the TEAM poster. Students will take turns serving as \"team captains,\" responsible for explaining the rules, modeling positive encouragement, and reflecting afterward on how well we respected each other and tried our best.\r\n\t•\tCross-grade Mentoring: Older students will help lead simple movement games for younger grades, using the foam balls and soft equipment to model safe, inclusive play. This will give middle school students leadership experience while giving elementary students positive role models.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students are not just playing; they are learning about health, responsibility, teamwork, and confidence through movement. Thank you for investing in them and in our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1757536985678,"projectUrl":"project/tigers-pe/9668744/","projectTitle":"Tigers PE","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Brandon Charles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10234772_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756739531590","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10234772"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_58678","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":778,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":58678,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mullins Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mullins Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kentucky/pike-county-school-district/mullins-elementary-school/58678"}
