As a school counselor, having access to a personal laminator has been a game-changer for the small group work I do with students. I've been able to create durable, reusable visuals and hands-on tools for social-emotional learning activities. For example, during a recent self-regulation group, students used emotion cards I laminated to talk through their feelings and practice matching coping strategies. These tools are helping make abstract concepts more concrete and engaging for my young learners.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also made a huge difference—some students come to group straight from lunch or specials, and having a small snack helps them focus and feel cared for. When they first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious. One student asked, \"Are these for us?\" with a huge smile. It's amazing how something as small as a healthy snack or a fresh set of activity cards can make students feel valued and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I'm planning to use the laminator to build a \"calm corner\" toolkit for classrooms, so teachers can support students who need a break or some time to self-regulate. The tools you've helped provide will be used again and again across the building. Thank you for being a part of our work and helping students feel supported in both big and small ways!","fullyFundedDate":1737136318276,"projectUrl":"project/nurturing-minds-essential-tools-for-stu/8833934/","projectTitle":"Nurturing Minds: Essential Tools for Students Well-Being","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Mangual","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9628456_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723665378611","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9628456"},{"teacherId":8740202,"projectId":8964878,"letterContent":"Thank you for your donation! Because of you, I was able to purchase new bows, new strings, a printer, and a bass chair for my orchestra students at 390.\r\n\r\nA new bow and new strings make a huge difference in the sound of a string instrument. Learning a string instrument is difficult, and a student that is able to produce a beautiful tone is more likely to continue their studies. New strings and new horsehair on the bow make an instrument literally sing! The instrument becomes more resonant, and one does not have to work quite as hard to make a good sound.\r\n\r\nI now have a bass player in my orchestra who is much more comfortable in his new chair, and takes pride in the \"special seat in the orchestra.\"\r\n\r\nLastly my new printer is able to produce copies of music for students to take home and practice.","fullyFundedDate":1733192117169,"projectUrl":"project/ms390-orchestra/8964878/","projectTitle":"MS390 Orchestra!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Krausz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8740202"},{"teacherId":9612211,"projectId":8924194,"letterContent":"First of all, I want to begin by thanking you all for the donations to our classroom. As of right now, the snacks are used in three main ways. First, they are used as motivators for the students. When we are trying to achieve a goal as a class, such as completing homework or a certain amount of reading minutes, I motivate them with the snacks. Second, they are used as raffle prizes. Every Friday we try to do raffles. Students earn the raffle tickets when they participate, when they read for a certain amount of minutes and much more. Then, they have a chance of redeeming. Finally, they are used to feed students when they have no breakfast or lunch, as we understand that people cannot learn if they do not have their biological needs met. \r\n\r\nWhen our students first saw the prizes, they were very excited that they had more snack options. I was providing all the snacks from out of pocket so it was very limited, but after your donations, they were very excited about the variations. \r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue learning and preparing for the state exams. I am hoping with the snacks, we are able to continue helping children have motivation and less hunger to be able to put their education in first place while in the classroom. We appreciate all you did for us!","fullyFundedDate":1732459404357,"projectUrl":"project/feed-the-kids/8924194/","projectTitle":"Feed the Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Acosta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9612211_orig.jpg?crop=622,622,x0,y85&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722183764856","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/d-acosta01"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_392","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":311,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":79,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"7.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":392,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Middle School 390 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Middle School 390","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ms-390/392"}
