They have been racing them back and forth on the tile areas enjoying themselves. \r\n\r\nThe paper cutter has also been a great addition for me to have. Your donation purchased books that supported our classroom in three distinct ways. The high interest graphic novels help emergent readers get hooked on books, and it helps Spanish language learners to read 'chapter books' but with picture support to support them with understanding new vocabulary. \r\nThe bilingual books on famous leaders helped students with research projects we do at the beginning of every year. Students study, take notes, prepare a presentation, and present to both the 5th grade class and power grades. This builds public speaking skills and confidence as well as school wide knowledge a about the leader.\r\nFinally, there were books about the experience of a young girl who immigrated to the United States when she was a baby, and is talking to her community to build an understanding of her identity as an American and a Dominican. Your books help students see them selves as learners, as people of value, and to build their identity as readers and leaders. Good quality headphones are essential to increase engagement and reduce the overall classroom noise. The large plastic bins and Ziploc bags keep everything organized so that I can increase the life of the headphones.
