We use them to read together as a group or sometimes I just read to them. They enjoy listening to me read and discuss the events in the story with them. We have great discussions!\r\nOne of the greatest positive outcomes is that the kids love reading! We read because we have to in my reading groups to help them become better readers but they do not see this as a punishment or embarrassed by it. They are actually excited to come to my class and to read the next story. They have come to the point where they actually ask me for the topics of the stories they would like to read about! The place value mat helped my students better visualize the process of subtraction and addition.
