During fluency reads, students read aloud while wearing the phones so they can clearly hear their own voices. This has helped them slow down, notice their mistakes, and self-correct—something many of them struggled to do before. I've already seen students reread passages with more confidence and improved expression.\r\n\r\n When the reading phones first arrived, the excitement was immediate! Students were eager to try them and loved how \"fun\" and special they felt. Even reluctant readers were motivated to participate, and several students who usually avoid reading aloud asked for extra turns.\r\n\r\n Your support has given students a safe, low-pressure way to practice reading aloud, which has been especially helpful during test preparation and fluency checks. Next, students will continue using the reading phones during small-group instruction and independent reading to build accuracy, fluency, and confidence. These tools are helping students take ownership of their reading and move toward becoming stronger, more independent readers.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the tools they need to succeed—your support truly makes a difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1764788065656,"projectUrl":"project/ring-in-reading-success/9734325/","projectTitle":"Ring in Reading Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Christman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10271037_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x84,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758846470818","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10271037"},{"teacherId":10271037,"projectId":9741778,"letterContent":"I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your generous support of my project. Thanks to your contribution, my students now have access to the reading paddles, which have already proven to be an invaluable tool in our classroom.\r\nThe students are using the paddles every day to enhance their reading skills. These hands-on resources have been especially effective during small group sessions, where students work together to decode and blend sounds, making the learning process both interactive and enjoyable. The paddles are giving my students the opportunity to practice in a more engaging way, and I can already see improvements in their confidence and fluency.\r\nWhen the students first saw the paddles, their excitement was evident. They were eager to dive right in, and it didn't take long for them to realize how much fun learning could be with these tools. The added excitement and motivation have created a positive atmosphere in the classroom, and the students are now more enthusiastic about tackling new reading challenges.\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using the paddles to work on building fluency, especially with longer, multisyllabic words. These next steps will help my students gain greater confidence and independence in their reading, allowing them to approach even more challenging texts with a sense of accomplishment. I am excited to watch them continue to grow and progress with these resources.\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity. Many of them, especially students with ADHD or on the autism spectrum, learn best in a calm and inviting space. The fluorescent lights in our classroom, while practical, can be harsh and overstimulating. With your support, we were able to add light covers to soften the glare and bring in a lamp that provides warm, focused lighting.\r\nWhen the students first saw the new lighting, they immediately noticed the difference. I've also noticed that students seem more comfortable and focused throughout the day.\r\nNext, we will continue to build on this improved environment by using it to support our current classroom lessons.
