Your support in providing puzzles and hands-on engineering toys has already begun to make a meaningful impact on my students, and I cannot thank you enough for investing in their learning, creativity, and future success.\r\n\r\nIn kindergarten, play is more than just fun—it's the foundation of critical thinking, problem-solving, and early engineering skills. The materials you donated are not simply toys; they are tools that ignite curiosity, build confidence, and allow young learners to explore complex concepts in a way that feels natural and exciting. Because of you, my students now have opportunities to construct, design, experiment, and collaborate every single day.\r\n\r\nThe puzzles you provided encourage essential cognitive skills such as spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, perseverance, and flexible thinking. I have already seen students challenge themselves with multi-step puzzles, proudly celebrating their success or trying again with fresh determination. These moments may seem small, but they are the building blocks of lifelong learning.\r\n\r\nThe engineering toys—blocks, connectors, building sets, and other hands-on materials—have quickly become classroom favorites. Students are using them to create bridges, structures, ramps, towers, and imaginative inventions that they excitedly share with peers. These toys strengthen fine-motor skills, promote teamwork, and help students test ideas through trial and error. They also open the door to meaningful STEM conversations, even at this young age. When a tower falls, students talk about stability. When a ramp doesn't work, they naturally explore angles or force. All of this is happening because they have the right materials to explore and discover.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has transformed our engineering and building centers into vibrant, engaging spaces where students feel empowered to take risks and follow their imaginations. For many of my students, this is their first experience with materials that allow them to engineer, build, and problem-solve in such intentional ways. Your donation ensures that every child—regardless of background—has access to high-quality learning tools that foster creativity and innovation.\r\n\r\nBeyond the materials themselves, your support sends an important message to my students: that people in our community believe in them. They may not fully understand the scale of your generosity, but they certainly feel the excitement, encouragement, and opportunities that your kindness makes possible. You have helped create a classroom where students feel inspired, capable, and motivated to explore the world around them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in early education and for recognizing the power of hands-on learning. Your donation will serve students not only this year, but for many years to come. I am profoundly grateful for your investment in my classroom, my students, and their educational journey. Your kindness will continue to shape young minds, spark curiosity, and nurture the next generation of thinkers and creators.","fullyFundedDate":1758656543234,"projectUrl":"project/kindergarten-stem/9637025/","projectTitle":"Kindergarten STEM!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sorto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9237389_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y343&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715899422510","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9237389"},{"teacherId":143974,"projectId":9279195,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been buzzing with excitement! The new books, live caterpillars, and magnetic building blocks have truly brought our pet study to life for my energetic group of four-year-olds.\r\n\r\nEach day, my students explore the pet-themed books during story time and center activities. These stories have sparked so many meaningful conversations about how to care for animals and show kindness—helping us build both literacy and empathy skills. When the caterpillars arrived, the room filled with wonder! The children rushed to observe them every morning, making predictions about when the butterflies would emerge. Their curiosity and sense of responsibility for these tiny creatures have been amazing to watch.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic blocks have also become a classroom favorite. Students have used them to design and build creative habitats for pets—dog houses, fish tanks, bird cages, and even butterfly gardens! It's incredible to see how naturally science, storytelling, and problem-solving blend together through play.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue connecting what we're learning about animals to the larger world around us. We'll be exploring how different pets meet their needs, and later, we'll release our butterflies to see the life cycle come full circle.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made it possible for my students to experience hands-on learning that deepens their understanding of nature and their care for living things. Books are essential in the classroom. It helps students understand print awareness, decoding, reading comprehension as well as expand and develop their vocabulary, and helps them understand the world around them. Book also helps explain things in a way that young children can understand. With these books I am able to help my 1st graders with social-emotional learning, build empathy, and self-awareness though characters they can relate to. \r\nOnce I read a book that is used to help reinforce a lesson it goes on a special book shelf that they love going to. Even if the reading level is a bit difficult to them they \"read\" the book using skills they have learned, like blending, looking at the images and recalling from when I read the book to them. This alone is so powerful to helping them with their reading skills and motivating them to continue to pick up books. \r\nMy students look forward to read to self time each day. It is part of one of their literacy stations and we always get time to pick a spot after recess to get a book and find a spot that they want to read for a few minutes while their body relaxes after recess to self regulate. \r\nMy students love books, they love to read to self, they love reading to a friend and they love reading to any adult in the classroom.
