We have loved our classroom rug. It has been so fun for the students to have a place to hang out during free time or a space where they can sit during independent practice time. The headphones have helped when we have online work to do. It allows students to not be distracted and it is also engaging each student with what their given task is for the day. It allows me to better differentiate my instruction. The light covers have been an absolute hit. The students and parents often make comments about how inviting and fun the environment is when they step into our room. The hot glue sticks were very beneficial during our projects in science. Students were able to bring their ideas to life. The blue saucer chair has allowed for more flexible seating and it is always the first one chosen during our special seating time. The blue tooth speaker has been used outside during recess and the students love requesting songs and has inspired line dancing. Each of the items that you have contributed to our classroom are not only helping my current classroom but with great care they can be utilized for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1743631024404,"projectUrl":"project/the-creative-classroom/9223869/","projectTitle":"The Creative Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Worthy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9481229_orig.jpg?crop=793,793,x197,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722442352057","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9481229"},{"teacherId":2702301,"projectId":9223871,"letterContent":"When you walk into my class, you know right away it will be fun and a true learning environment. For those who are not familiar with this fun reading competition, each classroom puts together teams of readers to compete against one another in being the most knowledgeable about the books on the list. Students have the whole school year to read and become experts on the books, however, most classes don't ramp up their preparations until the spring. Each team of students agrees on who will be responsible as the experts for which books on the list, though some avid readers will try to read more than their agreed upon books!\n\nWhen it comes time for the competition, our school librarian runs each round in a Jeopardy style game. For the first level, teams within each class compete against one another to determine a class winner. That team then moved forward to compete in the block finals. Our campus of 5th grade operates on a 3-block system. So the semi-finals were held next to determine which class from each of the 3 blocks would move forward to the finals. \n\nStudents at our campus participate in this exciting competition for the first time in 4th grade, so they have an idea of what they are doing by the time they get to us, and many of them look forward to this competition throughout the year. Some groups had loosely formed teams even in the first semester! As a teacher who moved up from 4th grade to 5th this year, I know the students would agree with me in saying that one of the biggest frustrations they had last year was trying to get a hold of a copy of the books they were supposed to read. Our campus only had so many copies to go around. Having this project funded truly allowed for our class to become further and more fully engaged in this fun competition that encourages a healthy love of reading by providing so many more copies of the books for them to read!\n\nWith sincerest gratitude,\nMrs. Bagwell","fullyFundedDate":1743689878417,"projectUrl":"project/battle-of-the-books-battle-ready/9225122/","projectTitle":"Battle of the Books--Battle Ready!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bagwell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9990505"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9788","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":876,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":25,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":97.3,"schoolId":9788,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Keenan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Keenan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/montgomery-independent-school-district/montgomery-intermediate-school/9788"}
