After Romeo and Juliet, my ninth graders used these donated resources to explore the tension between public persona and the private self—a central theme in the play and a deeply relevant concept in the lives of teenagers. When the materials first arrived, the students were excited to know that they had a visual and tangible mask project to create based on themselves. The students designed the outside of their masks using anything from watercolor, color pencils, crayons, markers, additional cardstock to create vibrant colors, symbols, and words to represent their public persona. On the inside, they expressed their private selves, mapping out their hidden fears, true emotions, secret ambitions, and vulnerabilities.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project on our classroom dynamic was truly awe-inspiring to witness. Every single student was deeply engaged, transforming the room into a focused, creative studio. When it came time to share, the students were filled with curiosity about what their peers had created and the unique ways they chose to describe their inner and outer worlds. There was a palpable sense of awe and inspiration in the room as they looked at the extraordinary creativity and originality of their classmates. This exercise did exactly what we hoped it would: it fostered deep empathy, heightened self-awareness, and built a powerful sense of belonging, as students realized that everyone carries a complex inner world beneath their public exterior.\r\n\r\nWith the masks complete, our next steps will bridge this creative reflection back into our formal literary analysis. Students will be using their masks as a visual springboard to write a structured character analysis paragraph, comparing their own dual identities to the hidden motivations of Romeo, Juliet, or Lord Capulet. Your support has not only brought literature to life in a tangible, memorable way, but it has also helped create a safer, more connected community for these young learners. Your kindness and support have made a meaningful difference in our school community, and we truly appreciate the time, effort, and resources you dedicated to helping our students succeed.\r\n\r\nThe donation of school supplies is such a tremendous blessing for both students and teachers. Many families face financial challenges, and school supplies can sometimes become an added burden. Because of your generosity, students now have access to important materials such as notebooks, pencils, pens, folders, paper, markers, and other classroom essentials that will help them stay prepared and confident in their learning. Having the proper supplies allows students to focus on their education instead of worrying about what they may be missing. It also helps create a positive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to participate fully in classroom activities and assignments.\r\n\r\nYour support goes beyond simply providing materials. It sends a powerful message to our students that there are people in the community who care deeply about their education, well-being, and future. Acts of kindness like yours inspire hope and encourage students to work hard, dream big, and appreciate the importance of helping others. Sometimes even the smallest act of generosity can have the greatest impact on a child's life, and your donations will continue to make a difference throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nWe are also incredibly thankful for the donation of air filters for our classrooms. Clean air is essential for maintaining a safe, healthy, and comfortable learning environment. With students and teachers spending many hours inside classrooms each day, the air filters help improve air quality and create a healthier space for everyone. This thoughtful contribution demonstrates not only care for our students' education but also concern for their health and well-being. Knowing that our classrooms can be cleaner and safer because of your generosity gives us peace of mind and helps students feel more comfortable while learning.\r\n\r\nYour donations remind us that a strong community can accomplish wonderful things when people come together with compassion and generosity. Support from donors like you strengthens our school and encourages us to continue providing the best educational experience possible for our students. We know that these donations required sacrifice and thoughtful consideration, and we do not take your kindness for granted.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our students, teachers, staff, and families, thank you once again for your generosity, support, and belief in our school community. Your willingness to give has touched many lives and created a lasting impact that will not be forgotten. We are deeply grateful for your partnership and for the care you have shown to our students. My students were encouraged with rewards purchased with the fund that they put more effort into all assignments. It was so much easier to motivate students to do better at learning Korean. We are grateful and appreciate the opportunity to receive the fund for this project!\r\n\r\nThe goal for this project was to encourage my students to learn Korean by rewarding them with items such as Mini Plush Animals Keychain, Scratch and Sniff Stickers, and Healthy snacks. It was a highly motivating factor for all my students this year. The students saw all the packages of their rewards and they were very happy. Students learned Korean idiomatic expressions and proverbs. Each student selected different Korean idiomatic expressions and proverbs to make the slide presentations to share with their classmates. The Korean idiomatic expressions and proverbs can be challenging for my students but I finally got a chance to introduce them to my students this year. Since each student had different idiomatic expressions and proverbs, students had to work with me one-on-one, allowing me to pay attention and focus on individual needs much better. The students who came for extra tutorial sessions showed me that using idiomatic expressions and proverbs helped students better understand the conversations and examples. Students using pictures to support their slides are as good as drawing in their notebooks for better understanding. \r\n\r\nThe Scratch and Sniff Stickers were given to students as they wrote in their notebooks and the healthy snacks for drawing and coloring part of the stories. Plush Animals Keychain were for completing the oral presentations. Students liked to choose different stickers and animal Keychains. Another teacher recommended to me the stress relief balls. She was right for students really like that there were many choices to choose from. Stress relief balls were much more reasonably priced too. \r\n\r\nBeginning Korean students focused on a short story in the second semester. This is the first time to have the beginning Korean class do a short story. The short story tends to be more challenging than poems. It was a children's story \"코끼리가 똥을 쌌어요.\" It's about an elephant kid pooped. This is for kids who don't like to eat. Students write Korean on one side of the composition book and vocabulary list on the other side. We took time to practice correct pronunciation as students learned the vocabulary. Students would get The Scratch and Sniff Stickers as they finish writing on their notebook. Also, students colored their drawings of the story. Even though most of my students were 9th graders, they really liked the story too. \r\n\r\nThese idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and stories helped students to remember the vocabulary much easier as the words tended to repeat. Therefore, students have an easier time with the story lines and know any new vocabulary words.\r\n\r\nWe will continue to do more idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and stories. We will revisit the idiomatic expressions, proverbs done this year to focus on Korean grammar.","fullyFundedDate":1771784592636,"projectUrl":"project/korean-for-everyone/10111570/","projectTitle":"Korean for Everyone","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kim","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10111939_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y500&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755140605241","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10111939"},{"teacherId":9407561,"projectId":10111519,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generous donation of origami supplies, cup noodles, and snacks for my classroom and after-school activities. Instead of waiting to share a limited number of devices or trying to complete complex calculations by hand alone, every student had access to the same tool at the same time. The excitement was immediate. Students carefully opened the calculators, explored the buttons, and started asking questions about what they could do. For many of my students, this was their first time using a scientific calculator independently, and they were eager to learn.\r\n\r\nThese calculators have already transformed the way we approach math instruction in our classroom. Before receiving them, students often spent so much time working through arithmetic that they became frustrated before reaching the deeper algebraic thinking I wanted them to practice. Now, students can focus more on analyzing patterns, solving equations, checking their reasoning, and understanding mathematical concepts rather than getting stuck on lengthy computations.","fullyFundedDate":1764005396861,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-learning/9781321/","projectTitle":"Fueling Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8633044"},{"teacherId":8633044,"projectId":10111040,"letterContent":"Our new classroom printer has already made a meaningful impact on student learning in math. Guided notes help students stay organized and provide them with a resource they can revisit when studying independently at home.\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited to receive activities that are tailored to their learning needs. The printer allows me to quickly provide extra practice for students who need additional support while also creating enrichment opportunities that challenge advanced learners. This flexibility helps every student stay engaged and feel successful in math class.\r\n\r\nSome of the students who have benefited the most are those who struggle with note-taking or organization. Having printed guided notes reduces frustration and helps them keep up with instruction more confidently. When the draft materials (dry-erase markers and posterboards), art materials (colored pencils, markers, crayons), and measurement tools (rulers and protractors) first arrived, my students were genuinely excited. For a math classroom, seeing the delivery of colored pencils, posters, and rulers is a welcoming surprise. Their immediate thought was that this wasn't going to be a standard worksheet day, and that energy translated directly into their engagement with the mathematics. We used these resources to bring the geometry of irrational numbers to life through the creation of the Spiral of Theodorus. \r\n\r\nStudents began by constructing a single right triangle and calculating the hypotenuse using the Pythagorean theorem. From there, they used the new rulers and tools to build consecutive right triangles, creating a beautiful mathematical spiral. A standout moment in the classroom was watching students who typically struggle with abstract equations suddenly light up as they realized how the square roots translate into exact physical lengths on their paper. The art supplies allowed them to color-code their calculations and transform their mathematical proofs into stunning visual art. \r\n\r\nWith this project successfully completed, our next step is to use these visual spirals as a bridge into our next geometric unit. The models the students drew will serve as a constant reference point as we transition into studying coordinate geometry and distance formulas on the plane. Because of your investment, my students didn't just memorize a formula—they built it, saw it, and now deeply understand how it works. We are making great use of the Scented markers as well, and even though these are high school students ranging from 14-18, they are just as excited to use them as younger kids. \r\nUsing the 2-tiered bookshelf to store our little classroom library with history books has helped showcase these books much better than before. The paper storage organizer has also let us more easily get to the different construction paper colors just in time for a recent project where students made pop-up posters about the various ethnic groups that came to work on Hawaii sugar plantations. All of this has truly made us more organized, which means less time wasted looking for materials.\r\nAs for the snacks, this was a huge help when the AP World History students took their AP Exam.
