When we received them, students were immediately excited to explore, observe, and handle each one as they made their initial observations. We have already used them to calculate the volume of cubes using formulas and the metric system, and they were also the perfect tool for exploring water displacement. Through these activities, students began to see firsthand why some objects sink while others float.\r\n\r\nLater in the year, we plan to use the cubes again to compare their densities to those of various liquids. This will allow students to test whether they can accurately calculate density and predict if an object will sink or float.\r\n\r\nI can't thank you enough for your generosity in providing these valuable resources. You have helped make complex scientific ideas more tangible, engaging, and meaningful for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1755705901638,"projectUrl":"project/to-sink-or-to-floatthats-the-questio/9565854/","projectTitle":"To Sink or to Float...That's the Question?","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kamien","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5451585_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1528397982190","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5451585"},{"teacherId":5451585,"projectId":9222210,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generosity in providing these new beakers to our classroom. They will be in continual use throughout the year, as we have many labs planned for all our middle school students.\r\n\r\nIn addition, through your willingness to help these students, they have had the opportunity to learn many valuable life lessons outside of school. Through this project, they learned to take ownership of their actions, realize that acts of kindness can happen that you have provided, and realize their need to be kind and thoughtful of others moving forward. These valuable life skills go well beyond the beakers that were replaced in the science classroom.
