Many of my students are reading below grade level, so having engaging and accessible texts has given them the opportunity to practice decoding, fluency, and comprehension in a way that feels exciting rather than overwhelming. We've used these books during small-group reading lessons to work on skills like identifying story elements, making predictions, and retelling. They've also been wonderful for building vocabulary and sparking thoughtful classroom discussions.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks like students eagerly choosing from a variety of books that match their interests and abilities. Some of my reluctant readers have started picking up books without being prompted, and it's been inspiring to see them read independently or share stories with a partner. One student who used to shy away from reading time now proudly carries a favorite graphic novel around the room, eager to talk about the characters with classmates.\r\n\r\nThese books have not only supported essential reading skills but also nurtured a love of learning. My students are building confidence as readers, discovering new genres, and finding joy in books they can truly connect with. Your generosity has opened doors for them, both academically and personally, and I am so grateful for the lasting impact you've made.","fullyFundedDate":1744290641636,"projectUrl":"project/books-to-build-confident-lifelong-reade/9227007/","projectTitle":"Books to Build Confident, Lifelong Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arloo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9611086_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743715446975","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9611086"},{"teacherId":9611086,"projectId":9229576,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new rug, easel, and mailboxes, their excitement filled the room. They immediately gravitated to the rug, sitting together during storytime and group lessons, which has quickly become our favorite gathering space. The easel has already made lessons more interactive; students love coming up to share their ideas, draw diagrams, and solve problems together in front of their peers.\r\n\r\nOne special moment came during a recent reading lesson. Students eagerly gathered on the rug while I used the easel to display story elements. Several students who are usually more reserved felt comfortable participating and sharing their thoughts. The classroom mailboxes have also been a hit. Students are practicing responsibility by checking them daily, turning in work, and even leaving kind notes for each other, which has boosted our classroom community.\r\n\r\nThese resources have truly transformed our learning environment. My students are more engaged, collaborative, and independent each day. Our next steps include using the rug and easel for small-group projects in both reading and math, giving students more chances to take ownership of their learning. Thank you again for helping us create a classroom where curiosity, confidence, and collaboration can flourish!","fullyFundedDate":1746785928609,"projectUrl":"project/a-creative-space-for-learning/9229576/","projectTitle":"A Creative Space for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arloo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9611086_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743715446975","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9611086"},{"teacherId":9912501,"projectId":9089071,"letterContent":"The beautiful rugs that you funded have already been used and loved by over 100 students...and that was just on their first day in the room! All of my students will use and love these rugs each and every day. \r\n\r\nHaving such a beautiful and inviting place to gather allows students to feel welcomed and appreciated.
