Because of you, my students now have access to engaging, high-quality books that bring music learning to life in a whole new way.\r\n\r\nThese new books introduce and reinforce important skills such as musical vocabulary, expressive elements like dynamics and tempo, and introduce students to composers and their works. Many of the books also help students make connections between music and storytelling, showing them how music can express feelings and tell stories.\r\n\r\nReading in our music classroom looks joyful and interactive. We use the books during whole-group lessons, small-group discussions, and calm transitions. My lower elementary students listen as I read aloud and respond through movement, singing, or discussion. \r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially excited about the new books. Students who are typically quieter in class have found their voice by sharing observations and favorite parts of the stories. Others are inspired to create their own music, rhythms, or drawings after reading, using the books as a spark for creativity.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a meaningful impact on our classroom. These books are helping students build musical understanding, a love of reading, and confidence in expressing themselves. Thank you for investing in our students and helping make music learning even more meaningful and memorable.","fullyFundedDate":1762266431220,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-in-harmony-a-music-classroom-l/9852810/","projectTitle":"Literacy in Harmony: A Music Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dean","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10189284_orig.jpg?crop=1145,1145,x11,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761144744396","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10189284"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63610","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":575,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":97,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":51.3,"schoolId":63610,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Miller Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Miller Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/dearborn-public-school-district/miller-elementary-school/63610"}
