For example, we completed our STEM project on Very Good Hats. Then in October we will use Just a Box for students to create and engineer a project that uses only box but isn't a box. For example, students could make a robot or a tent. This has been a fun way to introduce topics like, Newton's Three laws of motion while reading the Newton and Curie: the science squirrels. I am excited to share the significant impact your generosity has made through our DonorsChoose project, \"Fun Access to Math Essentials\" (FAME Area). Thanks to your support, my 6th to 8th-grade students have been able to engage with math in more meaningful and enjoyable ways.\r\n\r\nWith the resources provided, we have created a dedicated FAME area in our classroom where students can explore essential math concepts through hands-on activities and collaborative projects. One memorable project involved using the new math games and manipulatives to explore the concept of area and perimeter. Students worked in small groups to design their own floor plans for a dream classroom, calculating the area of each section and determining the perimeter of their designs. This project not only reinforced their understanding of these concepts but also sparked creativity and teamwork.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were nothing short of amazing! There were cheers and high-fives as they eagerly explored the new games and tools. Many of them exclaimed how excited they were to use the manipulatives, and it was heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm for math. This positive response has fostered an environment of curiosity, where students feel safe to express their thoughts and ideas.\r\n\r\nNext Steps for Students\r\n\r\nAs we continue to delve into the FAME area, the next steps for my students involve a project where they will create their own math games using the concepts of fractions and decimals. They will work collaboratively to design, test, and play each other's games, enhancing their understanding through peer-to-peer learning. This project will not only reinforce their math skills but also develop their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a tremendous difference in our classroom, allowing us to create a vibrant and engaging learning space where students can thrive. Thank you for believing in our mission and for your commitment to education. I look forward to sharing more success stories with you as we continue our journey in the FAME area!","fullyFundedDate":1732633012325,"projectUrl":"project/fun-access-to-math-essentials-area-fame/8698220/","projectTitle":"Fun Access to Math Essentials Area (Fame Area)","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garofil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9703936_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726192199031","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/aileen"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28386","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":320,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":75.5,"schoolId":28386,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Milford Grade School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Milford Grade School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/milford-area-public-school-district-124/milford-grade-school/28386"}
