With these new books, students are learning valuable skills like understanding different perspectives, building empathy, and making connections between their own lives and the stories they read. These texts also help us teach critical thinking by discussing themes, characters, and real-world issues in ways that are age-appropriate and engaging.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading has become a collaborative and joyful experience. Students gather in our cozy corner to explore these books independently or during guided reading time. They're engaging in thoughtful conversations, sharing their favorite stories, and even recommending books to one another!\r\n\r\nOne student, for example, found a book with a character that reminded them of their family. It was the first time they saw their experiences reflected in a story, and now they can't stop talking about how much they love reading. Another student, who was previously a reluctant reader, is now eager to pick up books about places and cultures they've never heard of before.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only given our students access to books but also the chance to see themselves and others in the stories they read.
