My English Language Learners absolutely love coming to class. They are always willing to learn, and their enthusiasm keeps me motivated to be the best provider I can be.\r\n\r\nOur beautiful, new Fire Tablets enable us to have a multi-faceted learning experience. English Language instruction encompasses the 4 domains of language: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It can be very rigorous learning for some students. Having the Fire Tablets allows me to tap into their individual learning styles. Some students stay quiet until they are more confident with their speaking. The Fire tablets enable them to explore on their own. They seem to forget their reticence when they want to share something that they have done or discovered. Other students enjoy being creative with their digital work, often responding more to writing prompts than they would if writing with a pencil and paper. Their motivation is palpable!\r\n\r\nThese new Fire Tablets allow us to use our curriculum's digital components, which means they can do independent learning games and challenges that reinforce what we have learned during our discussions and workbook assignments. I can also assess my students and collect data in real-time, which helps me plan for more effective instruction. The best thing about having this technology is observing how the students take their work seriously, they are having fun, and not even realizing that they are working.\r\n\r\nPlease appreciate that my students know that their Fire Tablets were a GIFT from people who care about them. My hope is that they will remember your generosity and pay it forward as they grow and enter their place in the world!","fullyFundedDate":1759463126637,"projectUrl":"project/learning-is-wonders-ful/9416201/","projectTitle":"Learning is WONDERS-ful!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Curley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9539043_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726421597894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-curley-macs"},{"teacherId":5354344,"projectId":9053404,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our \"Passport to Creativity\" project exceeded all expectations. However, thanks to you, we now have a room full of colors, flexible seating options, and interactive learning materials that foster creativity and enthusiasm. My students are more motivated than ever to come to school each day, and they take great pride in their classroom. The positive atmosphere has made an undeniable impact on their attitude towards learning.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only improved the physical space but has also made my students feel valued and supported. It's clear to see the difference: students are more focused, engaged, and collaborative. They actively participate in lessons, and many have shared how much they love the new, vibrant look of the classroom. It has become a place where they feel comfortable and excited to learn, which in turn has positively affected their academic progress and overall well-being.\r\n\r\nSeeing their excitement and pride in their classroom space motivates me to continue providing the best learning environment possible. The success of this project is not just about the materials and resources we received, but about the long-term effects on their confidence, self-esteem, and desire to succeed. The word building activities, decodable readers and phonics activities are so beautifully packaged that the students don't really realize that they are tools to help them learn to read. They are motivated to work because these tools make learning fun. \r\n\r\nThe materials I bought through your generosity are based on Orton-Gillingham and the Science of Reading approach that teaches a strong phonics foundation to build their reading skills on. My students are English Language Learners (ELLs) and/or Kindergarten children who are struggling to master basic letter sounds and blending skills. The readers and activities target individual phonemes (letter sounds) and use repetition through various activities to instill phonemic confidence in each child. We build on individual sounds/phonemes and work on blending those sounds together to spell words (phonics).\r\n\r\nIt is so rewarding to see the realization that THEY are, in fact, READING! I hope that the attached photos convey their joy of learning!
