These animals have quickly become part of our daily routine and a favorite part of the day for many students.\r\n\r\nWhen the pets first arrived, students were curious, though some were a little unsure, but that changed quickly once they started observing their behavior and interactions with others. We held a naming campaign for Tio, and the class worked together to raise money for their food and supplies. Now, students take turns misting Tio's tank, refilling water, and observing feedings. The sense of community around this project has been seen schoolwide, and the students are excited to come from all over to say hello to the animals.\r\n\r\nThe animals have also helped shift attitudes toward some of these misunderstood animals. Many students came in afraid of snakes or reptiles, but after learning about them up close, that fear has turned into understanding and respect. They love sharing facts about the animals and showing others how to handle them carefully.\r\n\r\nThese pets have given my students something steady and positive to care for, and a way to see science as something living, not just something written in a book. Over time, I hope to add more species to increase our classroom biodiversity and continue reducing the stigma around animals like snakes and spiders. We also have been involving them in lessons and will loan them out to other classrooms for learning opportunities.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make our classroom a place where curiosity, responsibility, and kindness grow every day.","fullyFundedDate":1752671503555,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-learning-living-creatures-i/9455566/","projectTitle":"Interactive Learning: Living Creatures in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. B","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8818490_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y417&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752115863570","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8818490"},{"teacherId":10054017,"projectId":9419663,"letterContent":"Or donor... Thank you so much! This photography class has REALLY opened the doors into the souls of the kids. A lot of kids have found an avenue to express themselves that they didn't know they had! A lot of them have found a new passion they didn't know they had! And a few of them, have looked at a style of photography as a possible career move! \r\n\r\nI am so DEEPLY honored to say that, we have had a few ALREADY producing ART SHOW READY material. It's on to part two, which is finding funding for the ART II classes, as we are about out of supplies, and TPS currently doesn't have a fine arts coordinator. Their second spiral is the daily bell work where they write down the daily word, define the word, write down the agenda, the essential question, and the learning objective each day. Once second semester starts in January each student will get a new daily bell work spiral since they will use up the first one during first semester.\r\n\r\nThe binders, folders, highlighters, etc... help them as they stay organized in my classes, which include all of my students who are in my Advanced English 1, Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, and Introduction to College classes.
