My school is a mix of affluent and low-income students. Some have notebooks, while others struggle to afford basic supplies. Having notebooks for all, levels the playing field for those who do not have what they need and keeps them from feeling different from others. \r\n\r\nResearch shows students who handwrite their notes remember their lessons better. In middle school, many have not yet learned to take notes. Some struggle with executive function, especially with organization. I have some students who leave their journals here, in the room now, because they have lost the ones provided by their families or school support services. I work with students on how to take notes, what to write, how to organize their thoughts and words, how to keep track of work, and how to study from their notes. They keep a Table of Contents, pages used as a planner for homework assignments, pages for notes, and weekly reflection pages.\r\n\r\nThese notebooks give students the ability to learn, track, and study their lessons.\r\n\r\nThank you.","fullyFundedDate":1756387064921,"projectUrl":"project/journals-for-learning-to-take-math-notes/9478840/","projectTitle":"Journals for Learning to take Math Notes","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Keller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kellerskidz"},{"teacherId":9735192,"projectId":8747507,"letterContent":"Wow! \"How cozy!\" That's what everyone says when they walk into my new and improved classroom.
