It has quickly become the heart of our room — a place where students gather for morning meetings, story time, and whole-group lessons. The rug provides each child with their own clearly defined space, which has made transitions smoother, increased focus, and helped students feel comfortable and secure during learning time.\r\n\r\nThe very first moment my students saw the new rug, their faces lit up. Several of them gasped and said, \"Wow! Is this for us?\" They immediately walked around exploring the bright colors and soft texture, excitedly pointing to the shapes and patterns. One student told me, \"This feels like our special spot now!\" Their enthusiasm set the tone for how meaningful this addition would be for our classroom community.\r\n\r\nWe already use the rug throughout the day to support learning. During a recent phonics lesson, students each found their spot and practiced tapping out sounds together. Having their own individual areas minimized distractions and helped them feel confident sharing their ideas. During social-emotional lessons, the rug has become our circle space, where students take turns talking and listening, building both friendships and communication skills.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, our next steps in learning are even more exciting. We are beginning a collaborative storytelling unit, where students will gather on the rug each day to build a class story piece by piece. The rug helps create a warm, inviting space for creativity, participation, and a sense of belonging—something that truly makes a difference in kindergarten.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students a place that supports learning, connection, and joy every single day. Students love their new \"seat sacks\" as we call them to hold their favorite books and reading materials.
