We set up a \"kitchen\" area in our Maker Space and bought bins to store the materials so the rest of the school can use them. The student beg to cook each week and when I tell them we can only do once a month, they groan. The students have learned so much new vocabulary around cooking utensils and processes. They can follow a recipe and often correct each other when a student skips ahead. \r\n\r\nStudents are increasing their receptive language as they understand items and actions and expressive language by talking about what they are doing and making. They are using pragmatic language skills as they take turns, sequence tasks, talk with each other, focus and attend, and share snacks with each other. Our next steps are for students to gain more independence in completing recipes and add a writing component to the lessons so they can write their own recipes or copy recipes from school to bring home and use. Thank you so much for your donations that made this project come alive.","fullyFundedDate":1761584476975,"projectUrl":"project/lets-talk-about-cooking/9786642/","projectTitle":"Let's Talk About Cooking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Russ","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2849723_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1478030883900","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2849723"},{"teacherId":7905232,"projectId":9490547,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom!
