Students use these texts to practice identifying themes, analyzing characters, and making inferences based on evidence from the text. Many of the books also expose students to rich vocabulary, varied sentence structures, and diverse perspectives, which strengthens comprehension and encourages deeper discussions. Because the books span multiple genres and reading levels, they allow students to grow as readers while still experiencing the joy of choosing a book that truly interests them.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, daily part of our routine. Students participate in independent reading, small-group discussions, and partner talk, using sticky notes and journals to track their thinking. Our classroom library is a space where students feel ownership and excitement, they recommend books to one another, eagerly share favorite passages, and often ask for \"just one more chapter\" before transitioning to the next activity. These new books have increased student engagement and helped foster a strong community of readers.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant readers have been especially impacted by the new library additions. Having access to fresh, high-interest books has helped them build confidence and stamina, and they are now choosing to read during free moments and at home. Seeing students light up when they find a book they connect with has been incredibly rewarding, and these books are helping every child feel seen, capable, and excited to read.","fullyFundedDate":1758854834579,"projectUrl":"project/bookworms-in-the-making/9547936/","projectTitle":"Bookworms in the Making","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wood","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10159328"},{"teacherId":9852745,"projectId":8983915,"letterContent":"In our classroom, reading is dynamic. We combine independent reading time with group discussions, where students share their interpretations and insights. I often use activities like book clubs or class reads, where students are encouraged to articulate their thoughts, listen to others, and refine their ideas.\r\n\r\nAs for particular students, I've noticed that the new books have resonated especially with students who are more reluctant readers. The diverse range of topics and perspectives in these texts has sparked their interest, allowing them to see themselves in the stories. These students are more engaged and excited to read, and it's wonderful to watch them grow more confident in their abilities. Some of the students who previously struggled with reading have found the new books to be more accessible, which has encouraged them to read more often and discuss books with greater enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nThe new books have had a significant impact on our students, sparking increased engagement and enthusiasm for reading.
