These texts have allowed us to practice close reading, inferencing, vocabulary development, and exploring literary elements like theme, point of view, and characterization. Students are also building critical thinking skills as they make connections between what they read and their own lives.\r\nIn our classroom, reading looks like collaboration and engagement. Sometimes students read independently, jotting down questions or connections in their journals. Other times, we read together in small groups or as a class, pausing to discuss the author's choices, analyze key passages, or predict what might happen next. The books have truly become a springboard for deeper conversations and writing activities.\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts has been seeing how different students connect with different texts. A few of my reluctant readers have found themselves eagerly turning pages, excited to see what happens next. For example, one student who often avoided reading has been proudly sharing her favorite parts of a story with classmates, while another has begun sketching scenes from the book as a way to show comprehension. The variety of voices and stories in these books has given every student a chance to see themselves reflected and to discover something new.\r\nThanks to your generosity, reading in our classroom feels more alive, relevant, and inspiring than ever.","fullyFundedDate":1756046212979,"projectUrl":"project/novel-studies/9569502/","projectTitle":"Novel Studies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brasko","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10166269_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754785879646","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10166269"},{"teacherId":8007663,"projectId":9252608,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our Mayberry Cultural and Fine Arts Magnet Middle School orchestra students now have shoulder rests and clip-on tuners that are transforming the way we rehearse and perform. The tuners have helped students tune their instruments quickly and accurately, giving us more time to focus on playing together as an ensemble. The shoulder rests have provided comfort and proper posture for our violin and viola players, allowing them to hold their instruments with confidence and ease.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new resources, their excitement was immediate—many rushed to try the tuners, amazed at how simple it was to check their pitch, while others eagerly fitted their shoulder rests and shared how much better their instruments felt. One student summed it up perfectly: \"It feels like my violin finally fits me!\" These tools have not only improved their musicianship, but also sparked joy and pride in their practice.\r\n\r\nAs we prepare for upcoming performances, these resources will continue to support our students in reaching new heights. Your generosity has given them the confidence to grow as musicians, and the impact will be felt in every rehearsal and concert this year.
