This donation project has significantly enhanced the learning environment for our Maunaloa Elementary School students with special needs by prioritizing access to environmental print. The presence of clear and engaging labels throughout the classroom was crucial for these students, providing constant opportunities to reinforce literacy skills and build vocabulary in a meaningful context. By making everyday objects and routines more accessible through print, we were able to foster greater independence and confidence in our students, ultimately contributing to their overall academic growth and development.\r\nThe acquisition of the Rolo inkless printer has been instrumental in making the goal of this project a reality. Its ability to produce attractive labels in various sizes and appearances allowed me to create visually appealing bin labels for classroom storage. This seemingly simple change has had a profound impact on classroom organization, making materials easier for students to locate and return, thus promoting a more structured and less overwhelming learning space. Furthermore, the printer enabled the creation of incentive stickers that helped to support students' social-emotional well-being, providing positive reinforcement and encouragement for desired behaviors and emotional regulation.\r\nBeyond the classroom, the project's impact connected the home and school environments. The creation of reminder labels for letters and envelopes sent home to parents ensured that important information was easily identifiable and less likely to be overlooked. This helped to strengthen the connection between school and home, fostering a collaborative approach to our students' education. Ultimately, the increased presence of relevant and accessible environmental print, facilitated by the donated inkless printer, has demonstrably contributed to a more literate and supportive learning environment for my students with special needs.","fullyFundedDate":1729355194399,"projectUrl":"project/labels-for-building-and-rewarding-litera/8884395/","projectTitle":"Labels for Building and Rewarding Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Apo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8593651"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_50987","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":49,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"8.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":44.4,"schoolId":50987,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Maunaloa Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Maunaloa Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/hawaii/maui-school-district/maunaloa-elementary-school/50987"}
