My students have to have the audiobook to help with understanding the events and to be able to understand what they are reading. They are currently focused on the Council of Elrond, and the multiple stories told at the council meeting. They are learning to sift for intent by the characters towards the development of the story. We use Curipod to help further these steps in analyzing the text. They have been able to explore new vocabulary, literary themes, and expanding the literature world.\r\n\r\nWith the 3rd and 4th Harry Potter books, my students are exploring more of the world of Hogwarts, and catching onto the foreshadowing throughout the story. They are really invested in what happens to Harry. Since most have seen the movies, they have understood perspective, sequence of events, and even how to compare the book to the film. They are questioning why certain events are left out or change between book and film. Students identified similarities and differences between what they had seen before and what they were reading. \r\n\r\nMy children, as a rule, hate to read ,but are finding reasons to further continue Harry's story.
