Towers that tipped over became lessons in balance, and bridges that collapsed sparked conversations about stability and design.\r\n\r\nThese resources are helping us bring engineering and design thinking into our everyday lessons. Next, we plan to use them for a challenge where students design shelters that can withstand the \"earthquake test\" (a shake of the table!). Your contribution made it possible for us to receive much-needed containers to organize our classroom library, highlighters, whiteboards, and art supplies.\r\n\r\nThese new storage solutions have truly transformed our space. With our books now neatly sorted and accessible, students are more eager than ever to dive into reading. Highlighters and whiteboards are stored in a way that makes them easy to grab during lessons, helping students engage more actively and take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nOur art supplies, once scattered and difficult to manage, are now organized and easy to find—sparking more creativity and allowing for smoother transitions during activities. The overall environment feels more structured and calm, giving students a sense of pride and responsibility for their learning space.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has brought more than just supplies—you've brought order, accessibility, and a sense of ownership to our classroom. We are so lucky to be chosen to receive all of our goodies! \r\n\r\nWe are a first grade class of 24 students. We use whiteboards, pens, etc. EVERY day whether it is for language arts, math or writing. What we have been using them for the most lately is a program called UFLI, a literacy program. Each day we have to listen to the sounds in words and write down what we hear. We also practice writing \"heart\" words - these are words that are unable to be sounded out. And lastly, we write sentences and try our best to sound spell what we hear. \r\n\r\nWhen we first received the new supplies, the children were so excited. They were especially happy to see that one side of the boards are blank and the other have lines to help them keep their letter formations neat and tidy. One of the donations was a giant white board and we use this for many things including building our writing rubric which is a pirate ship. Having a large board makes it easy for the children to see what is happening. It is also so helpful when it comes to teaching lessons on the carpet. \r\n\r\nFor the future, we will continue to use our new supplies for all academic subjects. We will also incorporate using them for science and even art. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity!
