I frequently heard comments like, \"they used to teach that stuff in home economics and life skills classes,\" and \"I know I'm not a student, but can I join?\" Of course I wanted to invite as many people as could fit into the room, but the issue of supplies still stood. \r\n\r\nThen you stepped in. Your donation helped purchase ten sewing machines and countless needles, bobbins, thread, scissors, cutting mats, organizers and more to get this club up and running. I remember staying after school one day with my co-sponsor to set up the machines and organize the space. Amidst all of the cardboard boxes and cellophane wrapping, we smiled with glee at the pure creative potential in the room.\r\n\r\nThus far, the club has been a hit! We have 18 students in the club. They are male and female spanning from 10-14 years old. On the first day, students were taught about sewing machine safety and I watched them diligently thread the machines and diligently practice their straight stitches. \r\n\r\nIn the vein of building foundational knowledge, we will continue to practice straight stitching this week as we make scrunchies! The students are excited to work on a \"wearable\" project, and I am looking forward to seeing them grow in confidence at the sewing machine. \r\n\r\nThis club has given me a new opportunity to forge relationships with students and strengthen my relationship with those I already knew. Your gift has given me the chance to foster a creative environment where students can express themselves and learn valuable life-long skills. It is all because of what you have given and we are thankful!","fullyFundedDate":1746459012718,"projectUrl":"project/stitching-success-at-mcms/9091130/","projectTitle":"Stitching Success at MCMS","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Coe-Adegbite","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7867345_orig.jpg?crop=1529,1529,x519,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723210978912","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7867345"},{"teacherId":10014662,"projectId":9320351,"letterContent":"We're already seeing the impact of our new materials, and one of the things I'm most excited about is our new bulletin board, which we've set up as an interactive word wall. Students have started using it to display vocabulary from our recent lessons, and they've really enjoyed seeing their own words and illustrations become part of our classroom environment! As we continue the year, this word wall will grow with vocabulary from both our ELA and Social Studies units, giving students a consistent, visual way to connect with new language and ideas.\r\n\r\nThe rolling cart and organizational materials have made a huge difference in our classroom routines. Supplies like crayons, scissors, and chart paper are now housed neatly and are easy for students to access independently. This has streamlined transitions and helped students take more responsibility for their materials. It's also allowed us to use our time more efficiently during group work and creative projects, since everything is right at our fingertips and ready to go!\r\n\r\nWe've already seen how much of a difference it makes to have a full set of classroom supplies! Students are now able to participate fully in activities without having to wait or share limited materials. During art-integrated lessons and hands-on practice, everyone has access to their own crayons and scissors, which helps things run more smoothly and keeps students engaged. These materials are helping create a more organized, efficient, and student-centered learning environment every single day!","fullyFundedDate":1747492217208,"projectUrl":"project/supplied-for-success-building-a-better/9320351/","projectTitle":"Supplied for Success: Building a Better Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bossie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10014662_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x102,y238&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746464805341","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-bossie"},{"teacherId":8525530,"projectId":8935724,"letterContent":"I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. Thanks to your support, I was able to purchase colored paper and colored pencils, essential tools that have brought an exciting and creative energy to our learning environment. These materials have opened up new opportunities for my students to express themselves and engage with the content in a hands-on, imaginative way.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been truly remarkable. It was just like Christmas to them when our materials were delivered! My students now have the chance to explore their creativity in every lesson, whether they are illustrating concepts, creating visual projects, or working on group activities. The colored paper and pencils have become an integral part of their learning experience, helping them stay excited and engaged in ways that traditional materials alone couldn't achieve. It's amazing to see how these simple supplies have sparked enthusiasm and a deeper connection to their studies.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for making this possible. Your generosity has made a positive difference in my classroom, and I can already see the lasting effects it will have on my students. With your support, they are not only learning but also growing their creativity and problem-solving skills. I am truly grateful for your kindness and investment in their education.","fullyFundedDate":1733196123984,"projectUrl":"project/color-is-the-spice-of-life-science/8935724/","projectTitle":"COLOR is the SPICE of LIFE Science!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8525530_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657655091139","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8525530"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_98397","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":853,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":47,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.7,"schoolId":98397,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mason Creek Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mason Creek Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/douglas-county-school-system/mason-creek-middle-school/98397"}
