It's such a blessing to receive these items. The kids are having so much fun learning new sports, and getting active. Many of my students said they are playing games they never played, and they are interested in them now: that's exactly what I wanted! To get them involved in sports and keep them moving. I want them to enjoy sports and decide to play them as they get older, or outside for fun. They now have access to equipment they did not get to use before. \r\n\r\nThey were extremely excited to see the materials ! Our students thrive on structure, visuals, and individualized instruction. The laptop allows us to create personalized visual schedules, social stories, communication boards, and differentiated lessons tailored to each child's learning level. The printer brings those tools to life. We are able to print clear visuals, step-by-step directions, behavior supports, and hands-on activities that help students understand expectations and feel successful throughout the day.\r\n\r\nTechnology is helping our students learn by making abstract concepts concrete. For example, we can quickly design and print picture-supported math tasks, reading comprehension activities with visual choices, and social-emotional learning materials that reinforce appropriate responses. For many of our students, seeing information in a clear visual format reduces anxiety and increases independence. They are more confident completing tasks because the directions are accessible to them.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students has been seeing their own work printed and celebrated. When they type their name, write a short sentence, or complete a digital activity and then hold a printed copy in their hands, their faces light up with pride. It makes learning feel real and important. They love creating simple books about themselves, printing class newsletters, and seeing their accomplishments displayed on our walls.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially blossomed with this technology. One student who struggles with verbal communication has become more engaged because we can create and print customized communication supports that match his interests. Another student who was hesitant to write is now motivated to type short sentences on the laptop because she knows they will be printed and shared with her family. For students who need repetition and consistency, being able to quickly print multiple practice pages has helped reinforce skills in a way that feels predictable and safe.\r\n\r\nThis project has not just added devices to our room, it has added independence, confidence, and opportunity. Our students are communicating more clearly, engaging more willingly, and taking pride in their learning. We are so grateful for donors who understand that in a primary autism classroom, the right tools truly open doors.","fullyFundedDate":1769191958810,"projectUrl":"project/ausome-functional-classroom/10043539/","projectTitle":"\"AUsome\" Functional Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Canoy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10413267"},{"teacherId":9403174,"projectId":10011303,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Clean, Calm and Creative: Essential Supplies for Our Autism Classroom.\" Because of your generosity, our classroom now has materials that support cleanliness, calm regulation, and creativity. One especially meaningful moment was watching students use the new supplies to calmly transition between activities with increased focus and confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were excited and curious. Many immediately gravitated toward the creative and sensory-based items, which helped them feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn. These resources have already made a positive impact by reducing anxiety, supporting positive behavior, and helping students engage more successfully in classroom routines.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these supplies to support social-emotional learning, fine motor development, and creative expression.
