I present the students with a word problem then randomly assigned them a partner to work with. Each group is always engaged and are getting better at taking turns showing their thinking. Although every group does not always arrive at the correct solution on the first try, once they are able to see their classmates strategies, the lightbulbs go off and growth happens!
