When I spoke with them about our new bows, they were very very excited to start learning with them. Having the proper sized equipment is vital for success in the beginner string program. These bows will be used during our lessons through out the school year along with our beginner orchestra concerts we have in May and June. \r\n\r\nThe cello students will be working on the correct bow hold and use of bow with these new bows. As we become more secure and confident with the bow technique, we will be moving forward with learning new notes that make up the D Major Scale and our pieces for our beginner concerts. These students are very dedicated to this opportunity. Having these instruments to offer, keeps the students motivated to come to school and exposed to another style of learning. \r\n\r\nHaving support from Donors Choose is such a gift to instrumental students. I would not have an instrument to offer with out the donation. When speaking to my students about how special it was to have these instruments, they felt special in return. During writing workshops, students choose whether they want to sit or stand while drafting their stories, which has led to increased focus and engagement. One specific moment that stands out was during our recent science project on ecosystems. Students moved freely between stations, taking notes and observations while standing.
