Many of them are still in the early stages of learning how to identify and regulate their emotions, but having a structured space that is designed specifically for this purpose has given them a clear path forward. Students who might have once become frustrated or disengaged during lessons now know they have a safe place to go where they can pause, breathe, and collect themselves before returning to learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most encouraging parts has been seeing how quickly students have learned to use the calm corner with ease and independence. They no longer need constant prompting to make use of it; instead, many are able to self-advocate by recognizing when they need a break and moving calmly to the space on their own. I have seen students take deep breaths, use sensory tools, or simply sit quietly for a moment until they feel ready to rejoin their peers. This independence shows that they are not only using the calm corner as a resource, but also transferring those self-regulation strategies into other parts of their day.\r\n\r\nOverall, the calm corner has helped build a classroom environment where emotions are acknowledged and respected. My students are learning that it's okay to take a moment for themselves and that doing so can actually help them return stronger, more focused, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1752064018446,"projectUrl":"project/calm-corner-a-space-to-feel-and-heal/9435761/","projectTitle":"Calm Corner: A Space to Feel and Heal","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Falasco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8414810_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y543&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690499899458","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8414810"},{"teacherId":8414810,"projectId":8733588,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom project.
