Your generous donations have provided my students with a way to unleash their imagination and creativity; to take chances without the fear of failing; and to dream big, over and over again.\r\n\r\nWhen I first thought of incorporating this STEM center into my classroom, I couldn't have imagined the impact it would have on my students. I knew they'd be excited and would have fun. I hoped all of my kiddos would find confidence in their ability to create as well as feel success in completing their tasks. And all of that has happened, and so much more. \r\n\r\nFrom the time we received our first package full of materials I could truly feel the excitement and curiosity. Every item that was pulled out of the box was an \"oh wow\" moment! Their wheels were turning and ideas were flowing. This continued with every item from every box over the next week. I started reading children's books that got them thinking about planning, creating, and building in different ways. And then, it was time for them to get to work!\r\n\r\nThat first time they opened their bins and started exploring was unbelievable. Nobody told me it was too hard or they couldn't do it. Nobody asked for help or sat waiting for me to sit with them for support. Nobody asked me how much longer until we do something else or asked me if it was almost lunchtime yet. Nope. Everyone was fully engaged, having thoughtful discussions with one another and they were so complimentary of each other's creations. From that first day they just embraced the entire routine of what I wanted this time to be and they went with it.\r\n\r\nAs we continue with our STEM time, happening five out of our six days in a cycle, the children are excited, motivated, inquisitive, and not afraid to take risks. Even those kiddos who might not be as confident throughout the school day truly look forward to and dive right in when it is STEM time. I can't get their materials out fast enough!\r\n\r\nThank you for making this a part of my classroom. You have allowed for out of the box thinking to occur in a way that's different than I have ever had in my classroom. You have fostered relationships and improved confidence levels. You have brought joy to learning that is sometimes hard to see with the daily grind. I appreciate ALL you have given to my students.
