Many of my students benefited from sensory supports that helped them stay focused, regulated, and engaged throughout the school day.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, we received these materials and immediately began using them in our classroom. Fidgets, textured materials, hands-on task activities, and movement breaks became an important part of our daily routine and supported students during learning time, transitions, and moments of self-regulation.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students were able to learn in ways that felt comfortable and meaningful to them. The fourth and fifth graders are using black glue and dry pastels. They didn't know what dry pastels were and became very curious about it. They had many questions! Since dry pastels are more expensive than oil pastels, students have not had the opportunity to use them. After trying it out, they have fallen in love with them and enjoy the ability to blend colors easily.\r\n\r\nMy first graders have enjoyed working with air drying clay and have been asking if they will get to make things with clay again! Some students have had experiences with Playdoh, clay, or baking, but some students were learning for the first time how to make a sphere with the clay, how to use a rolling pin, and how to use cookie cutters. The aprons came in handy when we painted the ornaments. Every time I see them now, they ask me when the next art class is! \r\n\r\nThe students in my intervention classes have been benefiting from the whiteboard markers. The markers dry out very quickly and it can get frustrating to write with markers that are dry. They love the new markers and it helps them learn during our intervention class.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me provide these valuable experiences. I feel empowered to encourage their creativity, art skills, and emotional wellbeing.","fullyFundedDate":1759608284792,"projectUrl":"project/first-art-materials/9782083/","projectTitle":"First Art Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Masuno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9974504"},{"teacherId":9627616,"projectId":9089992,"letterContent":"Thanks to your donation, our classroom is now equipped with a variety of sensory tools designed to support emotional regulation and the difference has been profound.\r\nThese tools have created a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has not only provided physical items but has also helped build a classroom culture centered on understanding, empathy, and self-regulation. They were all very enthusiastic about hands-on activities. The students are using the materials frequently, and they have learned so much. They are building structures, which has encouraged creativity and enhanced their fine motor skills. The musical instruments are lovely because the kids are learning to explore sound and music by experimenting with different notes. Many of the materials have helped them develop their tactile skills, and when it comes to art, the students enjoy mixing colors and creating artwork.","fullyFundedDate":1729355286529,"projectUrl":"project/learning-through-play/8879911/","projectTitle":"Learning Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Acevedo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8357716_orig.jpg?crop=1152,1153,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1670710716808","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/amarilis-acevedo"},{"teacherId":8824270,"projectId":8877074,"letterContent":"My students and I are sending a huge mahalo for our materials. My students have been able to enjoy most of their materials and will be able to use other materials later in the year. \r\nWith these new materials, it showed the students that they are worthy of beautifully new materials and it taught them to think about how they use it in order to take care of it properly, overall building their sense of independence and accountability for their actions. In the pictures are some of the new systems I was able to implement with the new materials we received, including a \"sticker store\" for good behavior, fidget bucket for jittery hands, and blockers to build testing independence and promote privacy as we get closer to our standardized testing day.
