My students love to create all kinds of buildings, spaceships, etc. They have really enjoyed using the different themed tiles. They go along with the studies we have been doing in class. They were so excited when I brought the new tiles out and couldn't wait to play with them! I have been using the farm tiles on the light table and they have had a blast! The most popular one has been the Magna tiles builder. They love making the crane trucks and using the magna tile roads. I am excited to offer this opportunity to my current and future preschoolers. So far, they have been exploring with some see-through manipulatives that I already have in my classroom. They are building see-through structures on the table and exploring with color paddles. In my current donorschoose project, I am hoping to get more manipulatives to use on the light table, as well. I will also be incorporating other fine motor opportunities using the light table, transparency sheets, and dry erase markers. The thing that I was impressed with (and the kids were, too) was the fact the light table has a remote. Who knew? It has multiple color options, as well as solid or several flashing options. I think it's pretty cool when it slowly moves from one color to the next, and \"mixes\" as it does so. As it's changing from red to yellow, it shows orange in between. This helps the kids learn more about mixing colors. Again, thank you so very much for supporting my classroom. They love giving their friends a haircut or new hair style.
