Thanks to your generosity, my 5th and 6th grade students now have a variety of engaging materials that make our classroom a more welcoming, motivating, and interactive place to learn.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were incredibly excited. Seeing the snack boxes, games, fidget toys, and classroom activities immediately created a sense of celebration in the room. These items have become part of our classroom motivation system, helping reinforce positive behavior, participation, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThe board games such as Monopoly Ultimate Banking, Guess Who?, and UNO have been especially meaningful during small group activities and indoor recess. Students practice social skills, communication, and strategic thinking while working together. \r\n\r\nThe Conversation Cubes have also become a powerful tool for Social Emotional Learning. Students use them every ,morning during circle discussions to share ideas, reflect on experiences, and build empathy with classmates. It has helped quieter students find their voice and encouraged respectful listening across the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe sensory items like the slime and squishy toys are now part of our calm-down and creativity corner. Students use these materials during brain breaks or after completing their work. These moments help students regulate their emotions, refocus, and return to learning with more energy and concentration.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue using these materials to support classroom community and engagement. The games and conversation tools will be integrated into group learning activities, while the reward items will continue motivating students as we move into our next projects and collaborative lessons.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made our classroom more joyful, supportive, and engaging. As well as helping the students have a funny recess during this hard winter in Elgin in which they spent too many hours doing nothing different at home. The giant timer immediately became a favorite—they loved how it makes activities feel like a fun challenge. The snack packs brought big smiles, and the cleaning supplies and hangers made the classroom feel fresh and organized.
