Five Teachers and over 900 students are benefiting from the use of notebooks; 250 of which your donation provided. \r\n\r\nWe come from an impoverished county in rural California and expecting students to come prepared with all necessary materials is not a reasonable expectation here. It was disheartening to hear that our budget this year was depleted and only ¾ of the notebooks needed were able to be ordered this school year. We use the notebooks EVERYDAY in all science classes. They are for notes, vocabulary, data, graphing, lab analysis and more. Students are then able to use these notebooks to study for exams, use them on projects and some teachers allow the use of notebooks on exams, me included. This year I made a sincere effort to teach the students how to utilize and use their notebooks on their exams. I have seen a 10% increase in overall grades compared to last year in my 5 classes that use notebooks. Here is further testimony from the other teachers in my department that benefited from your wonderful donation.\r\n\r\nSamuel Rippe: I want to extend a sincere thank you for the notebooks. We immediately put them to use for recording vocabulary and class notes. This new system is having a significant impact; it allows our students to reference key information repeatedly, which has directly contributed to their ability to tackle more complex concepts in science with confidence.\r\n\r\nRaya Yapelli:My students use their notebooks daily in class. Every day when they come in, we have a warm-up that we write in our notebooks. We also use the notebooks to keep vocabulary and notes, organized by topic. We keep a table of contents where we add assignments, and it helps students stay organized. I have specialized assignments that are designed to fit in the notebook that can be folded and easily glued into the notebook for things such as notes or lab reports. The students get to use their notebooks on tests and quizzes, so they really invest in them. It is a great way for them to organize their work and thoughts.\r\n\r\n:Pete Bach:: The notebooks are very useful to both record our learning and a way to reinforce concepts through tactile-kinesthetic learning. When kids organize and write down thoughts, they learn them better. Parents like them too. Many thanks to the donors who paid for them.\r\n\r\nKatie Mirabelli: In my biology classes, notebooks are an essential part of daily learning and organization. Students use them to record notes, complete warm-ups, reflect on labs, and track their progress throughout each unit. These notebooks help students stay organized, practice scientific thinking, and build a personal reference they can use to review key concepts and prepare for assessments. They also serve as a valuable tool for me to monitor student understanding and provide feedback. Thanks to the generous support from DonorsChoose donors, every student now has their own notebook, ensuring that all learners can fully participate in class activities and develop strong study habits. These notebooks have already made a noticeable difference in helping students stay engaged, take pride in their work, and build confidence as young scientists.","fullyFundedDate":1755961318556,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-notebooks-for-science-class/9633782/","projectTitle":"Interactive Notebooks for science class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. B","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6331865"},{"teacherId":2578015,"projectId":9535236,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your generous support of our DonorsChoose project. Because of your kindness, our high school auto shop students were able to build and paint Revell plastic car models — a hands-on physical experience that brought theory into reality. The tools, paints, and models you funded have made a transformative difference in our classroom. Students weren't just following directions — they learned about vehicle construction, assembly techniques, and the artistry of finishing; they discovered how pieces fit together, how design decisions affect structure, and how careful craftsmanship brings things to life.\r\n\r\nYour donation has had a powerful impact on our students' engagement and confidence. Young people who might never have considered working with small-scale mechanical systems now approach tasks with curiosity and care. In every finished model, I see their growing pride and the deeper understanding they've gained — not only of engineering fundamentals, but also of patience, precision, and perseverance. On behalf of our entire class, heartfelt thanks. You've made this project possible, and the lessons — both technical and personal — will stick with these students long after the paint dries.","fullyFundedDate":1756225302790,"projectUrl":"project/design-and-build-car-modeling-in-introd/9535236/","projectTitle":"Design and Build: Car Modeling in Introductory Auto Shop","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tyler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2578015_orig.jpg?crop=1188,1188,x0,y55&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1699313699140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/john-tyler"},{"teacherId":4927952,"projectId":8940406,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions to my class. It's funny how these tiny trinkets can bring out the kid in even the most serious senior. It has brought a sense of fun and lightness to the class that is not always found in a high school math class. Not only are we using the items to encourage participation and reward positive behavior and scores, but i have also been able to use that as simple birthday gifts, strengthening student-teacher relationships and making students feel seen and valued. \r\n\r\nThis would not have been possible without your support. Your generous donations allowed us to purchase and build 24 plastic car models, a project that brought immense value to our classroom. Over 100 students in three separate classes were able to participate in this hands-on activity, which not only enhanced their understanding of automotive systems but also ignited their enthusiasm for learning through teamwork and creativity.\r\n\r\nLake County is one of the most economically challenged areas in California, and opportunities like this make a profound difference in the lives of our students. The car models became more than just an educational tool; they were a source of inspiration, sparking curiosity about engineering, mechanics, and design. Many of my students shared how much they enjoyed the project and how it deepened their interest in pursuing careers in the automotive field.\r\n\r\nYour kindness and commitment to education have truly made an impact.
