Many families use technology at home for entertainment, but in our classroom, this technology has become a powerful learning tool. Students are now able to step inside math concepts—exploring 3D geometry, visualizing transformations, and interacting with virtual environments that make abstract ideas easier to understand.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the ability to see and manipulate math in motion. Instead of just looking at shapes on paper, they can walk around them, rotate them, and observe how dimensions change in real time. This level of immersion has sparked a new level of curiosity, especially in students who normally struggle with traditional instruction.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who often felt discouraged in math, has become one of our most enthusiastic VR learners. The moment he put on the headset and began exploring a virtual geometry world, he lit up—asking questions, making observations, and teaching his classmates what he discovered. His confidence has grown tremendously, and he now participates more in class discussions.\r\n\r\nYour support has opened doors for students who learn best through hands-on, visual experiences. Because of you, math has become more meaningful, more engaging, and more accessible for every learner in our classroom. Thank you for making this incredible impact possible.","fullyFundedDate":1761947785171,"projectUrl":"project/metamath-virtual-reality-for-real-world/9846140/","projectTitle":"MetaMath: Virtual Reality for Real-World Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Padre","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8497626_orig.jpg?crop=1484,1485,x0,y34&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661740132728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rpadre"},{"teacherId":8497626,"projectId":9573357,"letterContent":"The Mathlete Arcade has transformed the way my students experience math. The moment they walked into the classroom and saw the new board games and manipulatives their faces lit up with excitement. Many students immediately gathered around the giant games, eager to try them out, while others explored the manipulatives with curiosity and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using these resources in our current unit on ratios and proportional reasoning. Students worked in teams using board games and hands-on tools to model real-world scenarios, helping them deepen their understanding while collaborating and thinking critically. One memorable moment was watching a group of students who usually struggle in math proudly explain their strategy during a game-based activity—they were engaged, confident, and fully invested in the learning process.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for our class include expanding these activities into a multi-day Math Arcade Challenge, where students will rotate through stations that reinforce problem-solving, logic, and fluency. Thanks to your support, math has become more interactive, joyful, and meaningful for every learner in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758747258714,"projectUrl":"project/mathlete-arcade-manipulatives/9573357/","projectTitle":"Mathlete Arcade Manipulatives","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Padre","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8497626_orig.jpg?crop=1484,1485,x0,y34&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661740132728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rpadre"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_57175","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":116,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":68,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":57175,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lowell Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lowell Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/bisbee-unified-school-district-2/lowell-junior-high-school/57175"}
