From the moment it arrived, the students were drawn to it. The bright colors and inviting texture immediately made the classroom feel warmer and more welcoming. It's amazing how a simple addition like a rug can transform not just the space, but the energy and engagement of the students who spend so much of their day in it.\r\n\r\nWe spend a significant portion of our day on the floor during circle time and Heggerty lessons, and having this comfortable, cheerful space has truly enhanced the learning experience. The students gather on the rug with excitement, and it has become a central hub for collaboration, discussion, and community-building. They feel more comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas when they are sitting together in a space that feels safe and inviting. The rug has become more than just a place to sit—it has become a foundation for connection and learning.\r\n\r\nThe positive effect on student engagement has been remarkable. During our circle time, students are more focused and attentive, and transitions are smoother because they have a designated, inviting spot to gather. During Heggerty lessons, which focus on phonemic awareness, students are more eager to participate and work together. I've noticed that the students are now more willing to help each other and share strategies for solving problems, all while seated on this bright, comfortable rug. It has enhanced both their academic learning and social-emotional growth.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the rug has fostered a sense of community and belonging. Students love to sit together, talk about their day, and even engage in spontaneous learning moments that happen naturally when they are gathered in a comfortable, relaxed setting. It has helped them build stronger relationships with each other and with me as their teacher. These connections are critical to their development, and your support has made it possible.\r\n\r\nI am constantly amazed at how a simple classroom item can make such a meaningful difference. Your generosity has not only provided a physical resource but has also enriched the learning environment in ways that go far beyond what I could have imagined. Every day, I see the students thriving in a space that feels joyful and supportive, and it is all thanks to your kindness.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping to create a classroom where students feel happy, safe, and inspired to learn. Your contribution has made a lasting impact, and it will continue to influence these students' educational journeys for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1748490029379,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-cozy-kindergarten-a-welcomin/9380026/","projectTitle":"Creating a Cozy Kindergarten: a Welcoming Space for Young Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10044078_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748289035238","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10044078"},{"teacherId":8913320,"projectId":9072901,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation! We are enjoying the ability to be more organized and efficient, and our classroom is so much neater, too. \r\n\r\nWe have also begun using the binders with page protectors for even more \"Book of Knowledge\" fun - graphic organizers for math, reading, writing, and science. My students were surprised that someone who didn't even know them would spend money on them. They were so excited to see that these were for them, even though they are just plain ol' binders - they are **their** binders.\r\n\r\nFor our next project, I plan to gather hands-on STEM activities for my kiddos.
