It has been so fun to see their faces light up as they engage with the new materials and resources that help them learn, grow, and develop. I am truly grateful for the great impact you have had on my students. It brings a smile to my face just to even have the opportunity to write about it!\r\n\r\nSince receiving the materials from this project my students have been able to engage in phonics based instruction, which has helped 80% of them jump 1-2 phonics levels using the Explode the Code books. I have also been able to grow and expand their vocabulary (which as English Language Learners, that is very important) by a significant amount as they have been able to explore individually the Content Areas for Kids picture dictionaries since they each have a copy. They are so proud of themselves for being able to be more independent in trying to learn new vocabulary.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, I have been able to have additional small groups led by perspective teachers because through this project I had the materials to organize my little readers in binders to provide small group instruction at my students' individual levels. This extra practice allowed my students to practice reading at a deeper level and gaining more reading comprehension with books in hand. My students also got to have hands on experience with what it means to be a community worker and what it takes to function as a community.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for giving my students these wonderful opportunities and to have these resources to be able to practice more skills and understand them at a deeper level!!! I am so very excited to continue to use these resources with my students and cannot wit to see how much they continue to grow and help them develop into English speakers and readers!\r\n\r\nThank you, thank you, thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1757950965567,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-activities-for-english-language/9697240/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Activities for English Language Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Paul","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10248184_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757421477074","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10248184"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_28010","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":242,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":35,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":63.9,"schoolId":28010,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Longfellow Liberal Arts Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Longfellow Liberal Arts Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/rock-island-milan-sch-dist-41/longfellow-elementary-school/28010"}
