What may seem like a simple snack has made an incredible difference in our classroom. Because of your generosity, my students now have the fuel they need to stay focused, energized, and ready to learn throughout the day.\r\n\r\nBefore this project was funded, hunger was often an invisible barrier. I could see the signs—students who struggled to stay alert during reading, who felt frustrated more quickly during math, or who quietly asked if I had \"anything extra\" they could have. Now, thanks to you, those moments look very different. Students know they have consistent access to something nourishing, and that sense of security alone has shifted the tone of our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful changes has been watching students advocate for their needs. Instead of trying to push through with a headache or a rumbling stomach, they now confidently—and respectfully—grab a snack and get right back to learning. I've even had students remind each other, \"Go get a snack first, you'll feel better,\" which shows how much they care about one another's success too.\r\n\r\nThe impact on engagement is undeniable. During a recent writing block, one student who usually shuts down before getting started grabbed a snack, settled in, and wrote for nearly 25 minutes without stopping—something I rarely see from him. When I checked in, he simply said, \"I can think better now.\" That small moment perfectly captures why this project matters.\r\n\r\nThese snacks have also become a quiet equalizer. Regardless of what a student brings from home—or doesn't—they all have what they need to learn. No one feels singled out, and no one feels left behind. It's a level of comfort and dignity that I wish every child had access to.\r\n\r\nThank you for recognizing that learning isn't just about books and pencils—it's also about meeting basic needs so students can show up as their best selves. Your generosity has brought peace of mind, improved focus, and countless small victories to my classroom. My students and I are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1761936956174,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-young-minds-snacks-for-growing/9672411/","projectTitle":"Fueling Young Minds: Snacks for Growing 5th-graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Badrak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10103992"},{"teacherId":10103992,"projectId":9521573,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, Magical Minds and Cozy Corners has completely transformed the atmosphere of our classroom. The difference was immediate—students and staff alike felt the shift. In fact, the \"vibes\" have become such a hit that I've already been asked to host all of our staff meetings moving forward. That alone speaks volumes about the warmth, comfort, and inspiration the space now provides.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating options have been the biggest change for my students. Each morning, they walk in with genuine excitement about where they'll choose to learn that day. I've noticed a remarkable increase in engagement and stamina—students settle in more quickly, stay focused longer, and take greater ownership of their work. One student recently told me, \"It feels like I'm reading in my own little comfy world.\" Comments like that remind me how important environment truly is.\r\n\r\nThe decorations have brought so much joy into the room. The fun, magical touches have created a space where students feel both energized and at ease. The mood shift is real. Even quieter students have started to open up more, share ideas during discussions, and linger a little longer at the end of class to talk about what they're learning—or just how much they love their favorite corner.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far happened during independent reading. A group of students curled into their new seating options near the twinkle-lit wall, completely immersed in their books. Normally I have to gently redirect or encourage, but that day, they read uninterrupted for nearly 40 minutes—by choice. They even begged to continue when the timer went off. It was such a powerful nod to the impact of a thoughtfully designed space.\r\n\r\nYour support didn't just add furniture and décor—it created a classroom where kids feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. The atmosphere truly sets the tone for every lesson and every interaction. My students feel it. I feel it. And now, apparently, the staff feels it too!\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a place where their minds can grow, wander, and shine. Your generosity made this possible, and its impact will be felt every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1756669213830,"projectUrl":"project/magical-minds-cozy-corners/9521573/","projectTitle":"Magical Minds & Cozy Corners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Badrak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10103992"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71691","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":443,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":45,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":32,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.5,"schoolId":71691,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Longacre Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Longacre Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/farmington-public-school-district/longacre-elementary-school/71691"}
