We were jumping around, trying on the suits, messing with the goggles, and just couldn't believe it was all for us. Most of us never had our own swim equipment before, so it felt like Christmas came early. Practice feels totally different now—harder, but in a good way—and we can already feel ourselves swimming faster, stronger, and with way more confidence.\r\n\r\nThe fins, paddles, and cords make it so much easier to actually feel the little things Coach is always telling us to fix. Instead of just hearing it, now we get it, and the progress is real. It's made practices tougher, but also way more fun because we can see ourselves improving together. The energy is crazy—we're cheering louder, pushing each other harder, and honestly just having the best time as a team.\"-LICHS Mermaids \r\n\r\nAs their coach, I couldn't be more proud. This project gave my swimmers not just the tools to improve, but the spark to believe in themselves and in each other. Every day, I see them laughing, working hard, and lifting one another up in ways that go beyond the pool. Your generosity has turned a group of beginners into a true family, and I'm honored to coach them. Thank you for giving them this opportunity—it's changing our program in the best way possible.","fullyFundedDate":1758908344118,"projectUrl":"project/two-seasons-one-family-building-confid/9710465/","projectTitle":"Two Seasons, One Family: Building Confidence Lap by Lap","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Jimenez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6349340_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759242561424","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6349340"},{"teacherId":6349340,"projectId":8076722,"letterContent":"For many of our students, stepping into a pool will be their very first experience. At our Title I high-needs school, swimming is so much more than a sport—it's a lifeline, a safe place to grow, and a chance to be part of something bigger than themselves. With your support, we can provide essentials like goggles, warmups, and cozy parkas embroidered with each athlete's name or captain title, along with on-deck supplies and school-logo caps. These aren't just pieces of gear—they are symbols of pride, belonging, and identity for students who often go without. The right equipment gives both our girls' and boys' teams the confidence to train hard, support one another, and stand tall together as a family. In the water, they discover discipline, joy, and teamwork; outside of it, they find focus, self-worth, and the strength to stay engaged and on a positive path. Your gift doesn't just prepare them to swim—it reminds them they are seen, valued, and capable of achieving more than they ever imagined.","fullyFundedDate":1707419416410,"projectUrl":"project/lichs-swimming/8076722/","projectTitle":"LICHS Swimming","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Jimenez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6349340_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759242561424","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6349340"},{"teacherId":1560446,"projectId":8447079,"letterContent":"I would like to thank you for your generosity and support. My students used the erasable pens during the January New York State Regents administration. Having this type of a pen, the erasable one, gave them a sense of security and confidence when it came to the written part. Some students passed the state exam and overall, when it came to the written parts, my students didn't score zeros which is an accomplishment. For the written part, they had to do two essays and absence of zeros on those two components in our data reports, indicates that having this pen enabled them to write with confidence. \r\nWe have still more work to do since not all of us passed the exam.
