We provide all materials the students need. Each student has a binder for each class where all materials are stored for the quarter. At the end of the quarter, we clean them out, re-stock them and use them again. \r\n\r\nMy first Donors Choose request for binders was 5 years ago as I did not have enough binders and the ones I did have were falling apart. My students were so happy to actually have something new for a change. The initial investment of binders lasted 5 years and, as materials do, they too began to need much duct tape repair.\r\n\r\nOnce again, lovely people like you understand the need for students to have basic things to be organized and to feel nice that they have new instead of used. We are slowly pulling the broken ones and replacing them with the new ones as needed. It is really nice to be able to just hand a kid a brand-new binder instead of repair tape when their binder falls apart. I know this wasn't the most exciting request, but it was needed and appreciated.","fullyFundedDate":1733292284961,"projectUrl":"project/duct-taped-binders-need-to-go/8845754/","projectTitle":"Duct Taped Binders Need to Go!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Graham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp62041_orig.png?crop=312,312,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1579212450957","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/62041"},{"teacherId":62041,"projectId":8845618,"letterContent":"I requested the sequels to a book my ELD students read because they were very engaged in the story. The original book we read landed in my little free library I have in front of my house. I read it and felt that the topic and the reading level was perfect for my ELD students. I wrote lesson plans, and they read their first whole book together as a class. The only negative feedback I received was they wish there was more of the story. I took a quick look on Amazon and low and behold, found that we read book 1 of a four-part series. \r\n\r\nThis quarter they are reading the second book in the series and next quarter they will read the third. They are truly enjoying this book which was situations and themes very relevant to the work my students live in. \r\n\r\nWe did a little research on the author and learned that the author is an English teacher and has self-published all of these books. We emailed the author, asked a few questions and have had a great experience with reading thanks to your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1730853606910,"projectUrl":"project/sequels-will-make-my-students-squeal-wit/8845618/","projectTitle":"Sequels Will Make My Students Squeal With Joy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Graham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp62041_orig.png?crop=312,312,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1579212450957","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/62041"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4057","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":148,"numTeachers":9,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":54,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"10 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.5,"schoolId":4057,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Live Oak High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Live Oak High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/antioch-unified-school-district/live-oak-high-school/4057"}
