The kids have loved drawing and writing with the dry erase markers, as much as they have loved having their own eraser for do-overs. They had a great time drawing a turkey made up of circles for Thanksgiving! The supply boxes have proved so handy for holding pencils and crayons for permanent drawings. Further, the children often are drawn to the art center, where they independently get cups to fill with water, and paint with the watercolors you provided. \r\n\r\nThank you so much or all of these cool school tools!","fullyFundedDate":1755722622964,"projectUrl":"project/cool-school-tools-to-start-the-year/9549074/","projectTitle":"Cool School Tools To Start The Year!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9282434"},{"teacherId":9817183,"projectId":9330196,"letterContent":"When my students first walked into the classroom and saw the new flexible seating options, their faces lit up with excitement. Many of them immediately gravitated toward the wobble stools and cushions, eager to try something new. During our literacy block, I noticed how much more engaged they were while sitting in their chosen spots. Students who often had a hard time focusing were able to settle in comfortably, and even my most reluctant readers seemed more motivated to participate. The new seating has already transformed the way we work together during partner reading and group discussions students are able to move, adjust, and find the space that works best for them without feeling confined.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working on in our current literacy unit, the flexible seating has given students the freedom to collaborate in ways that feel natural and comfortable. They are able to gather closer together for story maps, spread out for independent practice, or wiggle on a stool while still staying engaged. This project has not only created a positive learning environment but also set the stage for stronger collaboration and focus. Thank you for helping us create a classroom space where students feel supported, valued, and excited to learn each day.","fullyFundedDate":1746785876661,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-focused-and-happy-s/9330196/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Focused and Happy Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cortes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9817183_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730055309038","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9817183"},{"teacherId":9282434,"projectId":9046390,"letterContent":"Last year's students continued to be excited about their learning centers in the last month of their year, with some added materials. And I was very pleased to see their newfound sense of wonder and to see how my students had learned to work together.\r\n\r\nSome of my students worked cooperatively to put together functioning rollercoasters. They worked through how to angle the tracks to have a successful run. They also learned how to interpret instruction sheets!\r\n\r\nMany children became interested in some neglected centers. More of my students were drawn to the block center when play people and emergency vehicles were added there. The children built beds and other furniture for them in elaborate castles! At last, I was able to have my students use the scooters and tricycles that had been stored in the Special Ed preschool classroom. (I had not wanted to parade them in front of these young friends, since they are not yet able to use them, so my students needed to wait for quite some time.)\r\n\r\nMy students have enjoyed riding their vehicles around our yard. And I discovered that some of them had never before ridden either a trike or a scooter. It was a challenge for some to steer the tricycle, and for others to balance the scooter. But they are getting better at both! Some of the children also have built enough confidence to put both feet on a scooter after a few foot pushes. Blessings and thanks to all for giving my students this opportunity to grow! Right away they start peeking through the clear plastic bags. They parade proudly down the hall at dismissal, like they are carrying briefcases filled with important documents.\r\n\r\nParents, too, look forward to receiving the bags, as it means they will be able to share special time with their children. Spanish-speaking parents, especially, welcome access to books that are in their native tongue; these books can be hard to otherwise obtain. \r\n\r\nOne mom shared with me that by mistake one book stayed behind on the return date, because her daughter had been sleeping with the book beside her each night; that is what I would call love of books!
