I've shown them to students and they couldn't believe how many of them there were!\r\n\r\nStatus Royale is on the shelf and they have been checked out several times already. I featured Status Royale and Suzume in a book talk I gave to students last week. I had a student ask how long Suzume had been there because it was her absolute favorite and she would have noticed. I told her, \"Not long,\" and she said she thought so and asked where the rest of the volumes were (they were checked out). The Blue Lock volumes are constantly read by students. I also have a few fans of Dr. Stone. I'm still working on promoting Lovely Muco. I know students will love that adorable dog once I tell them he's waiting to be read. The Princess Bride was requested by a teacher who wanted to make sure we had it in the library as he was showing the movie to his students.\r\n\r\nAll the Brandon Sanderson books were requested by a 7th grader who is OBSESSED with his novels. She shares them with all her friends. Her father has all the books at home but, of course, she can't loan those to her friends so what better way to share them than through library copies? The Lives of Saints is for a big Leigh Bardugo fan. I wasn't aware of this book and she put it on my radar.\r\n\r\nI could go on and on. Just know there is a story behind every book on this list and you helped with each and every one. I am so happy that they will be able to see their first language in the library and know that they matter and are a part of the school community. \r\n\r\nThis grant especially fosters that as some of these titles are very popular with the general student body. As you can see with the thank you notes pictured, many students are excited about the Heartstopper books. The first 4 volumes in this series are among our top 5 most circulated books. Now my Spanish speaking students can read them in Spanish. The way this works is that students receive Monopoly money in order to bid on books. It's a live auction. The highest bidder \"wins\" the book (which really means they get to be to the one to check it out and return it in 3 weeks time). With extra copies, I can now auction off more than one copy at a time. Additionally, should literature circles ever return to my school, I will have 3 dynamic, exciting options to offer students who may prefer the format of graphic novels.\r\n\r\nAmazon was not able to ship the Colorblind graphic novels so, instead, I selected high interest titles. Fake Chinese Sounds is a brand new graphic novel that confronts racism in a middle school setting. Moon Rising and Winter Turning are both part of the popular Wings of Fire series. Both titles were requested by a student so I was able to get them for her!
