They crowded around the table as I unpacked the Ozobot robot, the magnet station, the microscope kits, and the science viewers. One student gasped, \"We get to use this?!\" Their joy and curiosity filled the room.\r\n\r\nThe microscopes and prepared slides opened up a whole new world of discovery. My students took turns looking at insect wings, flower petals, and tiny animal cells. Their faces lit up as they realized they were seeing details invisible to the naked eye. One child whispered, \"It's like magic!\" Moments like this show just how powerful hands-on learning can be.\r\n\r\nMy students loved to explore with the science viewers. They love to look at all the different life cycles, animals and insects daily.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my kindergartners now have the chance to imagine, innovate, and grow with resources that make science and engineering real. You didn't just give us materials—you gave my students the opportunity to see themselves as young scientists, engineers, and problem solvers.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for investing in their future.","fullyFundedDate":1754864979309,"projectUrl":"project/fun-with-stem/9559998/","projectTitle":"Fun with STEM","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Spigelmire","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2386456_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x121,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661195574999","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2386456"},{"teacherId":1280760,"projectId":9063954,"letterContent":"How are you and your students using the new resources?\r\nWe used the publishing resources to guide students through every step of the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, editing, illustrating, and finally publishing their own stories as professionally bound books. This project gave students a real-world purpose for their writing and allowed them to see themselves as true authors. We celebrated their hard work with an author celebration, where students shared their books with classmates and families, practiced their presentation skills, and reflected on their growth as writers.\r\n\r\nSpecific Classroom Project or Moment:\r\nOne memorable moment was when students received their published books. After weeks of anticipation, I gathered everyone together and handed out the student's books. The room was filled with excitement and pride as students held their finished books for the first time, flipping through the pages and showing their work to friends and family. Their joy and sense of accomplishment were truly unforgettable.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nWhen students first saw their professionally bound books, their reactions were priceless. There was a mix of awe, excitement, and pride. Some students cheered, others were momentarily speechless, and many immediately began sharing their stories with classmates and their families that attended our Author Celebration. The experience made them feel special and recognized for their hard work, boosting their confidence as writers.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nThe next steps involve building on this momentum by encouraging students to set new writing goals and explore other genres or topics. We plan to add their published books to the classroom library so students can read each other's work, fostering a community of readers and writers. Additionally, students will reflect on what they learned during the project and brainstorm ideas for future writing projects, possibly expanding into other disciplines or collaborating with other classes for more publishing opportunities. Your support has truly transformed our learning environment and opened up new possibilities for my students.\r\n\r\nThe writing kits you've provided have been integrated seamlessly into our daily activities. Just last week, the students started writing their own fictional stories with them as the main character! They voted and decided the theme would be survival stories! So fun! The chart paper, marker, and much more has already come in so handy for this project and other activities we have done.\r\n\r\nWhen I told them about the project and the materials first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was palpable. Eyes widened and gasps of amazement filled the room as we unpacked the boxes. One student said, \"This is like Christmas!\" The children couldn't wait to start their writing project, even those that say they don't like to write. Their enthusiasm has translated into increased engagement and a renewed love for learning and writing.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has set the stage for even more exciting projects. We're currently working on a cross-curricular unit that combines literature, history, and technology. Students are researching historical figures and will be using the new tablets to create digital presentations, complete with audio narration and visual elements.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we'll be diving deeper into writing our stories, then editing, printing, and drawing the illustrations with the markers you also helped provide. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided tangible resources but has also shown our students that there are people out there who believe in their potential.
