My 4th graders and I have been putting the new resources to work in meaningful and exciting ways. Recently, students used the LEGO blocks to model area and perimeter during our math unit—they built rectangles of different sizes, compared their findings, and even challenged each other to design shapes with the same area but different perimeters. The privacy test boards have also become a daily tool during independent practice and quizzes, giving students a quiet sense of ownership and focus. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group confidently play Fraction & Decimal War, cheering each other on as they compared values and explained their thinking.\r\n\r\nThe students' reactions when they first saw the new materials were priceless. Many audibly gasped, and a few jumped up and down when they spotted the LEGO sets and the bubble timer for our calming corner. One student said, \"This feels like a real math lab now!\" The calming corner has already become a popular self-regulation space—students use the liquid bubble timer to take quiet breaks and return to learning ready to focus.\r\n\r\nAs for next steps, my students are continuing a hands-on math exploration project where they rotate through stations using all the donated materials. They'll soon begin designing their own \"mini math challenges\" using LEGO area models and fraction/decimal cards to quiz their classmates. The privacy boards will help them work independently as we move into multi-step problem solving later this month. Your generosity has truly expanded what learning can look like in our room, and my students can't wait to keep growing with these resources.
