These books have helped introduce important reading skills such as understanding plot development, character traits, inference, sequencing, and interpreting visual clues alongside text. Many students who previously struggled with reading stamina or confidence are now eagerly picking up books and discussing stories with their classmates. The combination of illustrations and text has helped students strengthen comprehension while making reading feel exciting and approachable.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become a much more engaging and student-driven experience. Students are constantly recommending books to one another, reading during free moments, and even asking to take books home to continue reading. Our classroom library has become a place of excitement where students gather to talk about their favorite characters and storylines. The graphic novels have also encouraged reluctant readers to participate more during reading discussions because they feel successful and connected to the stories.\r\n\r\nSeveral students in particular have truly blossomed because of these new books. Some students who once avoided independent reading are now some of the first to grab a graphic novel and become fully immersed in a story. I have watched students build confidence, improve fluency, and develop a genuine love for reading through these texts. Your generosity has not only provided books for our classroom, but it has also helped create joyful reading experiences and lifelong readers. Thank you so much for supporting our students and making such a meaningful difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1778089139434,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-stories-to-life-with-graphic-no/10001611/","projectTitle":"Bringing Stories to Life With Graphic Novels","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rakes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5084534_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1515629843584","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-samantha-king"},{"teacherId":2382742,"projectId":9424241,"letterContent":"The ChompSaw has had a powerful impact on my classroom by transforming how students engage in hands-on learning. It allows third graders to safely and independently cut cardboard, giving them ownership of their projects and building confidence. Academically, the ChompSaw strengthens cross-curricular learning by helping students apply math skills like measurement, area, perimeter, and fractions through real-world building tasks. In science and social studies, students create models that deepen understanding and improve retention. The ChompSaw also promotes collaboration, problem-solving, and the use of academic language as students plan and build together. Most importantly, it has increased engagement, inclusivity, and excitement for learning, empowering students to see themselves as capable creators and critical thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1760712216633,"projectUrl":"project/chomp-shop/9424241/","projectTitle":"Chomp Shop","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Amick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2382742_orig.jpg?crop=2191,2191,x104,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1686644912463","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-amick"},{"teacherId":2382742,"projectId":9693785,"letterContent":"Thanks to Ripple and our generous donors, my third graders have been learning math in the most exciting, hands-on way with our new ChompSaws! When the box arrived, the class could hardly wait to open it. One student exclaimed, \"We get to use real tools?\" Since then, we've used the ChompSaws to build \"Fraction Fortresses,\" where students measured, cut, and assembled cardboard pieces to represent fractions, area, and perimeter. Watching their math skills come alive through creativity has been incredible. Students who once hesitated now lead their groups with confidence, proudly explaining their designs and measurements. Our next projects include geometric mosaic art and 3D bar graphs—both powered by the curiosity these tools inspired.\r\n\r\nYour generosity didn't just give us materials; it gave my students confidence, teamwork, and a love of learning. The new shelves have transformed our classroom library into a more organized, inviting space. Students can now easily find books that interest them, and they've taken ownership of keeping the shelves tidy.\r\n\r\nOne special moment was when we set up the library together—students were so excited to sort books by genre and series. Several said, \"It feels like a real library now!\" That excitement has carried into reading time, where students are exploring new titles they might not have noticed before.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom feels more like a community space where reading is celebrated.
