From the very first day, my students were eager to explore the materials you provided. One of the most memorable moments happened during our first group activity using the new resources: we were able to start a hands-on project that connected directly to the lesson on social-emotional skills. Each student had their own set of tools to practice identifying and expressing emotions, and the reaction was immediate—eyes widened, smiles appeared, and hands shot up with questions and ideas. It was clear that having these new materials not only made learning more interactive but also allowed students to engage in ways that were previously impossible. For example, during a session on recognizing emotions, students used the tools to create \"emotion charts\" for characters in stories we read together. This activity sparked meaningful discussions about feelings, empathy, and perspective-taking, and it was inspiring to watch students support each other in understanding the different ways people experience emotions.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has allowed us to go beyond traditional lessons and embrace interactive, student-centered learning. With the new resources, I've been able to design activities that meet the needs of all learners, including those who thrive with visual aids, hands-on tools, or collaborative exercises. Students have begun taking ownership of their learning; one particularly shy student, who usually hesitates to share, became fully engaged when given the opportunity to use the new materials to express her thoughts. She created a detailed \"feelings map\" and proudly explained it to the class, prompting others to do the same. Moments like these reinforce the impact of your support—these materials are not just objects in the classroom; they are tools that empower students to communicate, reflect, and grow. Even on a typical day, the resources make transitions and check-ins smoother and more meaningful, helping students regulate emotions and stay focused on learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to build on this momentum. Currently, we are working on a multi-step project that combines social-emotional learning with creative expression. Students are preparing to design their own storyboards where they illustrate a scenario, identify the emotions involved, and suggest strategies for handling those feelings in healthy ways. This next phase will encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving, while reinforcing the skills we've been practicing together. Thanks to the tools you provided, students are equipped to explore these concepts in depth and with confidence. I am particularly looking forward to seeing how students apply their learning beyond the classroom—sharing strategies with peers, reflecting on personal experiences, and using their skills in real-world situations.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly made a difference. It's not just about providing resources; it's about creating opportunities for students to engage fully, express themselves, and grow academically and emotionally. Each day, I see evidence of this impact in the excitement and engagement of my students, the thoughtful conversations we have, and the pride they take in their work. From the initial reactions of awe and curiosity to the ongoing projects and discussions, your support has opened doors to learning experiences that will stay with these students long after the lesson ends.\r\n\r\nThank you for taking a peek into our classroom and for making it possible for our students to experience learning in such an interactive, meaningful way. Your investment in their education is helping to shape not just what they learn, but how they approach challenges, communicate with others, and understand themselves and those around them. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and can't wait to share more stories of growth and discovery as our projects continue to unfold.","fullyFundedDate":1756341018810,"projectUrl":"project/new-school-year-new-sel-needs/9336310/","projectTitle":"New School Year, New SEL Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Alex","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9788940_orig.jpg?crop=288,288,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727896699003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-alexsel"},{"teacherId":9788940,"projectId":9093682,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to my Donors Choose project!
