My Art 1 and Basic Drawing students (grades 9–12) couldn't wait to open them and see how they worked. Within minutes, every table group was glowing—literally—with creativity.\r\n\r\nBefore we had these light pads, tracing and transferring drawings was a daily challenge. Students used to crowd around the windows, holding up their papers and trying to catch the sunlight just right. Others tried to use the flashlight from their phones, balancing it awkwardly under a sheet of paper. It wasn't easy, and it often slowed down their creative flow.\r\n\r\nNow, students are able to sit comfortably with their peers, share ideas, and refine their designs using the rechargeable light pads. The classroom feels more collaborative, focused, and joyful. I hear comments like, *\"This is so much easier!\"* and *\"It looks so professional!\"* every time we use them.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students can fully immerse themselves in the artistic process—drafting, adjusting, and transferring their ideas with confidence. The light pads have truly brightened our art room in more ways than one.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in young artists and helping create a space where their creativity can shine.","fullyFundedDate":1753973759895,"projectUrl":"project/rechargeable-light-pads-charging-stati/9503162/","projectTitle":"Rechargeable Light Pads & Charging Station for Collaborative Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ryan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5274800_orig.jpg?crop=2941,2941,x99,y28&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753565432822","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5274800"},{"teacherId":10059040,"projectId":9421818,"letterContent":"I am not sure that we have this kind of start to the year without your generosity. I received late notice that every request we made to our school/county for supplies were denied. This was especially troubling because I took training all summer to be able to teach AP Music Theory this year. So to know that you fully funded our project not only meant the world to me, but my students as well. You could see the joy on their faces on the first day of class when I showed them the wealth of resources that we had received to begin our learning. \r\n\r\nStudents have been so interested that they have convinced several others to sign up for the class as well. Students who could not get into the class are coming during their lunch time in order to work with us and that is a beautiful sight for us. We are able to take a variety of approaches to learning and it is because we have so many different educational resources. The posters allow us to walk the room and have conversations, they have pocket study guides that they take with them and we alleviated some expenses that parents would have otherwise needed to provide. We even took it a step further by adding flapper dresses for a 1920s-themed tap piece, which brought history, music, and movement together in a lively and unforgettable way.\r\n\r\nYour support helped us build skills in rhythm, coordination, and musicality while also giving students the thrill of performing for an audience. The audience was amazed—not only by our dancers' talent, but by the stunning costumes and props that brought our story to life. Many said they didn't expect to see such a high-quality performance from a high school program.\r\n\r\nYour donations provided vibrant silk fans for our flowing river scene, layered tutus that added depth and movement, elegant lace gloves for character detail, and sparkling crowns to give our Snow Queen and other royalty a regal presence. These additions didn't just look beautiful—they elevated the entire performance, allowing our dancers to fully embody their roles.\r\n\r\nWhen our students first saw these items, the excitement was electric. They immediately began experimenting with the fans, perfecting their timing so the fabric rippled like water. The costumes and props inspired them to dance with more confidence and precision, and that energy carried straight into the performance.\r\n\r\nThe production was such a success that we've decided to make The Snow Queen an annual tradition at Laurel High School! It's helping students show up with confidence—ready to learn, participate, and feel like they belong.\r\n\r\nThis project is more than just clothing—it's about restoring dignity, boosting self-esteem, and removing barriers to learning.
