The new math concept books have completely changed they way my students think about numbers and problem solving. These engaging texts help students see math in the world around them,- through stories, visuals, and real life connections that make abstract concepts come to life.\r\n\r\nDuring math instruction students are reading these books to explore division, fractions, decimals, and geometry in a fun and meaningful way. Students are often heard discussing relationships between money and decimals, and decimals and fractions. Students have discussed how they use fractions at home when they cook with their families. These books have also supported critical thinking and mathematical communication, encouraging students to explain their reasoning using math vocabulary and build confidence as mathematicians.\r\n\r\nOne student was able to read the book Remainder of One to help gain a better understanding of what could happen with the remainder in a real life situation. The student decided they never wanted to be the one left behind so sometimes there is a need to add one more. The same student also made a connection between multiplication and division. He showed understanding by writing about the connections.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are not only improving their math skills but also discovering that math is all around us everyday. Thank you for helping make that possible. My students are loving math and these books.","fullyFundedDate":1755693090015,"projectUrl":"project/read-it-solve-it-love-it-math-books-f/9532467/","projectTitle":"Read it. Solve It. Love It. The supplies we received were essential and greatly appreciated. Obviously, students wasted no time putting the crayons, markers, pencils, glue, scissors and construction paper to good use putting together their first few projects the first week of school--specifically our literacy quilt. The literacy quilt helped students understand the concept of literacy, its importance to their everyday understanding, and fostering a culture of a literacy community in our classroom. Students made their own contributions to our quilt by drawing tools they believed we needed to foster literacy.\r\n\r\nStudents have enjoyed learning independence and self-reliance by checking their very own mailboxes daily for graded work and notices to put in their take home folders to deliver to their parents at the end of the day. The organization, life skills, and routine that these mailboxes have helped teach my students has been invaluable. The storage caddies for their supplies at each set of tables has encouraged them to keep their space organized and tidy--they even hold each other accountable for cleaning up after themselves! The name tags at every desk give students a sense of pride and belonging as well as several tools close at hand that are helpful with their lessons such as a ruler, 2D and 3D shapes, and a hundred chart for math. \r\n\r\nSpeaking of math, the whiteboards and erasers have allowed students to leave their desks and come down to the carpet for a front row seat during math time. Students are able to solve equations right at the board and together in groups thanks to this resource. Students were also able to use the art supplies in math to create colorful arrays with repeated addition equations. \r\n\r\nAll these wonderful benefits considered, I'm sure my students would not want me to leave out the impact that having a class set of colorful kick balls has made to their recess fun. Students are so happy to break off in groups and play a myriad of different games with these kick balls! From their own version of soccer, to kick ball, dodge ball, and to even unusual games they make up themselves-- students are interacting with each other, getting lots of exercise, and having a great time-- all thanks to your kind donation!\r\n\r\nThanks so much for showing First Rate Generosity by donating to our First Rate Classroom and supporting our amazing First Rate Students!","fullyFundedDate":1749243681947,"projectUrl":"project/1st-rate-classroom-supporting-1st-rate-s/9389778/","projectTitle":"1st Rate Classroom Supporting 1st Rate Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10047935_orig.jpg?crop=3000,3000,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748813220089","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/randi-martin"},{"teacherId":9882528,"projectId":9018436,"letterContent":"All chairs in my classroom have a kick band since our students switch classes. Students are actively using the kick bands while working independently on classwork and assessments. The bands allow for minimal movement but enough to allow students to focus on their work. The wobble cushions are shared amongst the students with one student needing to use it for every class. Each morning he comes to my room to get his cushion to carry with him throughout the day. This cushion has helped him stay in his seat and complete his work successfully. If he forgets his cushion in the morning he will ask to leave class by telling his teacher he needs to focus. The teacher knows that he needs to come get his cushion. \r\n\r\nStudents were elated to see and use materials that will allow them to focus on their learning. The first couple of days I had to do a lesson on how to use the kick bands as students were trying to see how much noise they could make or putting Thor feet inside of the band. With a little bit of guidance, students are using the bands appropriately. \r\n\r\nDuring testing I pass out the pop-it bracelets to those students who have difficulty focusing on the task. I have set a time limit students can use them for before needing to return to the task. Without a time limit, the task may not be completed.\r\n\r\nThank you for supplying these items for my classroom so my students are able to maintain focus while completing their work.","fullyFundedDate":1739369980515,"projectUrl":"project/focus-while-moving-and-being-comfortable/9018436/","projectTitle":"Focus While Moving and Being Comfortable","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9882528"},{"teacherId":9452684,"projectId":9113131,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our school counseling department has been able to begin building a comprehensive social-emotional learning (SEL) library from the ground up—an invaluable resource that will benefit students for years to come.
