Because of you our \"Cozy Corner\" is stocked with social emotional books, materials for drawing about our feelings and sensory toys. This area of our room helps preschoolers learn to self-regulate their big emotions. The Cozy Corner is essential for my students with disabilities as it allows them to function in an inclusion environment and exposure to typically developing children is helping them meet their individual goals faster than I thought possible. \r\n\r\nThe Teeter Popper and Sit and Spin inspired me to create a gross motor area in our class which has become very popular with all students that need to move their bodies. One student with disabilities uses this area for vestibular and proprioceptive input, which in turn has led to improved social skills and fewer trips to the nurse for injuries. \r\n\r\nBoth students and staff (myself included) were so excited every time we received a new delivery. It was like Christmas morning! All materials were quickly put to use. The gorgeous new carpets define our center areas, allow students to comfortably play on the floor and bring joy to the classroom. Excitement in the classroom environment encourages speech from my students with communication delays. \r\n\r\nAs Spring approaches, we will raise butterflies from caterpillars. We will observe their life cycle, record our observations and release them on the playground.
