As soon as we unboxed the materials, their excitement was impossible to miss—students gathered around eagerly, pointing out the tools they recognized and asking how we would use them. One of my favorite moments came during a hands-on project where students worked in small groups to create interactive posters using the new supplies. They collaborated more confidently, experimented with new ideas, and took real ownership of their work because they finally had materials that matched their creativity and curiosity. The room buzzed with energy in a way I hadn't seen before, and it was clear that these resources opened doors for them.\r\n\r\nNow that we've begun integrating these materials into daily lessons, our next steps involve expanding the project into a larger unit where students will research, design, and present their own learning showcases. They're already brainstorming new ways to use the tools—some want to build models, others want to create visual storyboards, and a few are excited to develop mini-presentations for their classmates. Your generosity didn't just give my students supplies; it gave them confidence, motivation, and the sense that people beyond our classroom believe in their success. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions to my Donors Choose project. Your support has made a significant difference in the lives of my students, enabling us to acquire a selection of decodable books specifically designed for our special education students in middle school. These texts empower our students to become confident readers by enhancing their phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills. By engaging with these carefully curated materials, students are not only improving their reading fluency but also fostering a love for reading that motivates them to tackle more challenging texts over time.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a dynamic and interactive experience. We have created a literacy-rich environment where students feel safe and excited to explore new texts through small group instruction, interactive read-alouds, and literacy centers. Many of our students, such as Sarah and James, have shown remarkable progress and enthusiasm for reading. Sarah, who previously struggled, now eagerly shares her favorite stories, while James has gained confidence in reading aloud. Emily and Michael are also thriving, finding joy in stories that resonate with their interests. Your contributions have truly ignited a passion for reading among our students, and I cannot thank you enough for believing in our mission and supporting their educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1745338426646,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-make-reading-make-sense/9209821/","projectTitle":"Books That Make Reading Make Sense","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thueme","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2055414_orig.jpg?crop=805,805,x853,y95&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1582648190529","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2055414"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_67811","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":298,"numTeachers":14,"percentFrplEligible":81,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"21.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":87.2,"schoolId":67811,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lakeville Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lakeville Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/lakeville-community-school-district/lakeville-middle-school/67811"}
